Difference between 2014 and 2016 M6 Vert

Hello all,

I am finding the difference between these 2 cars similarly configured is about $20,000. I want to make sure that I am not missing something else between the competition packages, executive packages, driving assist packages, engines, iDrive, software versions, etc... that is a huge differentiator.

Right now from what I can tell, then only thing I am getting for the $20,000 is the newer car and maybe fewer miles.

Across all model years, the steering wheel has remained the same (2013 M5s had the old steering wheel). Really, the only updates thus far in this generation has been and likely remain:

1. headlights
2. idrive
3. ZCP

Question...wouldn't the "LCI" headlight refresh actually be for the 2016 model year? It can get confusing since build date & model year can be different. The early 2016 model year cars debuted in "2015"...thus it is correct when it says the headlights debuted that year...but it only applies to the official 2016 model year cars...not the ones that are 2015 model year cars, right?

And did the M6 get the turn signals in the side mirrors for the LCI 2016 model year, too?

I am looking at a 2016 right now and it doesn't appear to have turn signals in the side mirrors.

How do I tell if it has the LCI headlight refresh?

The f06/f12/f12 pre-LCI headlights have a row of approx 7 LED turn indicator lights directly below the headlights. Also, the pre LCI LED headlights have two separated "corona" rings that are almost completely circular. The LCI facelift corona rings where some of the first where BMW started "flattening" the rings...where they don't appear as full circles anymore...and the turn indicators moved up into the "eyebrows" of the headlights.

The LCI "facelift" doesn't.

thanks! But there is a change needed from the original post regarding NBT updates, in short there were NBT changes in both 2016 and 2017 for the respective MYs.

I also added that in 2013, the full LED headlights were an option. Some cars were fitted with the round halos and others were optioned with the square halos.

thanks, I updated it. I realized my original posts were conflating MY with production years.

I'm unaware the M6 received turn signals on the mirrors.

Yeah, only 6-series owners will notice the headlight differences.

And, don't try to retrofit it. It'll be a nightmare. I personally like the pre-LCI version as the bottom turn signal is very unique to the M6. During that period, while all BMWs with full LED options received the squared LED halos, their turn signals typically were on the corner or the top of the headlights.

The LCI version has a similar style as most other BMWs in the current lineup today (however the G cars' and many LCI F cars' halos typically are not full square halos anymore.

Meanwhile nobody has ever been able to tell the difference with the rear taillights ever!

I do like the LCI headlights a lot though

I still don't believe the pics, I think it might be lighting from the photo. I have to see a LCI in person myself to believe it. Luckily, I found out 2 LCI M6s in my neighborhood that park outdoors. I think I'll take a gander next time I drive by.

On the f12 M6 LCI or not nobody can tell the difference. When you buy a used car you buy the one that looks and is pristine and flawless and has been maintained to the dot. I would never buy this kind of car from a private seller and never buy it new and never buy one with more than 10-20K miles. Model year not the most important thing, but value. When you drive an M6 nobody knows or cares what model year it is. It is an amazingly wonderful machine!!! My $.02

Thanks for all this info. It isn't clear to me when NBT Evo ID5 became available. Is it strictly 2017 MY M6 cars or are there 2016 MY (produced 03/2016 or later) that also have it?

See chart below to determine the "build date range" (not necessarily model year) that ID4 ended and ID5 began...and note that the roll out of the next iteration is staggered across models...which means that you can't look at one date and assume that it applies to all BMW models:
