What shows have you been to in the past that you will never forget, and what bands do you have your sights set on for the future?

Anyone here see Rufus Du Sol live? Strongly considering seeing them this year.

Some unforgettable concerts for me were mostly coachella's in the early 2000's. Also... Phish NYE, Madonna, Prodigy, Rabbit in the Moon NYE millennial show.

Most recent - Garth Brooks - The Dance was unforgettable.

I went to Austin City Limits in 2019. Aside from the heat, it was my favorite experience involving live music. The Cure was amazing! I remember Billie Eilish being really good as well. I hadn’t listened to any of her music up to then.

Dire Straits at Concord Pavilion in 1985. Knopfler on top of his game.

Any of the many Rush shows I attended over the years.

I've seen many concerts in my nearly seventy years. Some of what I can remember:

My first was The Four Tops, on my first date, in a high-school gym

I was at the original Woodstock.

B.B. King at the Royal Albert Hall just after high-school.

I watched The Who from the wings of the stage for their show in St. Louis opening for Led Zep (who never showed) and instead got some guy no no one had ever heard of—Joe Cocker!

I saw The Grateful Dead so many times and over so many years from freshman orientation college concerts outside in a quad, to high-school gyms with pull-out bleachers and maybe 200 fans.

I saw the Byrds at the Boston Tea Party.

Crosby, Stills, and Nash on Crosby's 64th birthday outside in a marina

Fleetwood Mac (before Stevie and Lindsey) in a college gym.

Bonnie Raitt and Little Feat together in another college gym.

John Prine in a college gym.

The Nighthawks so many times I can't recall, usually with the Skip Castro Band.

Michael Hedges in a solo show at Wolf Trap but you'd swear there were three of him, at least!

Steely Dan at a large outdoor venue with Michael McDonald as the opener, then again a year-or-so later with Elvis Costello as the opener.

Jethro Tull (opening for Iron Butterfly) at an opera house when I was in high-school—stunning!

Jimi Hendrix in a high-school theater.

The Plastic Ono band at a debut party (sad).

The Band with surprise guest Bob Dylan at an SIU festival outside St. Louis back in college

Indigenous (Mato Nanji) at a bar in college.

Robert Palmer several times in the same bar in college.

I crewed for The Dukes of September at an outdoor venue, helping to set up Donald Fagen's Steinway and watching a two-hour rehearsal/run-through of the whole show with Donald coaching and directing Boz Scaggs and Michael McDonald along the way—and then the full concert from FOH.

Bruce Coburn solo in an old theater. Sublime!

The loudest I remember was Gary Clark Jr. at that same old theater and I have tickets to see him again, outside, in two-months.

There are more, I'm sure, but I'm old and probably forgot many.

I was a teenager in the 60s and live in the Los Angeles area at the time. I was on the Sunset Strip on Friday and Saturday nights to see all the bands of the day playing live at Whiskey, Hullabaloo Club, Pandora's Box, Hollywood Bowl. Sadly, I missed the Beatles. We thought they would be back.

Too many amazing experiences to pick the best.

In my 20s it was so many acts at the Universal Amphitheater before they put the roof on it. So many great bands. The Doobies before Michael MacDonald was probably my favorite. We saw them with Michael MacDonald later and they were good then too, just different with his voice.

McCartney a couple of times. Simply incredible. Speaking of past Beatles, I saw Ringo with his All Starr Band and he puts on a really good show too.

One of my favorite concerts ever was just a couple of months ago. My wife and I saw Ann Wilson perform without Heart on her Fierce Bliss Tour. IMHO, she is one of the top rock voices ever.

Like most of you, I wish I'd kept all the ticket stubs. I simply cannot remember them all. Live music is the best form of entertainment for me.

Saturday night, I'm headed to see Train and the Blues Travelers at the Concord Pavilion. Can't wait!

Concerts I really enjoyed that I nearly forgot until reading these amazing lists:

David Bowie - Irvine Amphitheater - witnessed greatness

Peter Cetera - he still sounds the same

Billy Joel - NYE - just wasn't a fan that night for some reason felt off

Paul McCartney - fun for sure

Underworld @ Coachella - next level for me

Lynard Skynyrd - delivered

I've been to a lot of hip hop concerts... i would say maybe around 20... and the one that sticks out was DMX... he honestly gave it his all. You could feel the energy and the heart he was putting into it.

I was not able to see too many concerts in my early years. Living in a small city, with only top 40 radio stations did not provide rock music appreciation.
Was in band during high school, concert, marching, jazz. So did get a round music appreciation background.
When the Grateful Dead performed in the early 1980s locally, the Civic Center banned them from returning (too many DeadHeads, not causing trouble just too many of them).

Not until college did I get deep exposure to the good rock music.
Saw REO Speedwagon, Atlanta Rhythm Section in college. Should have made an effort to see Genesis at that time, but did not. The REO tickets were bought for I think $20 each. Was walking by the field house, where people were waiting for the ticket window to open (remember that ), and asked someone I knew in line to get me two tickets. Got 4th row center.

Have been working to see all the classics over the past few years, during their retirement tours and such.

Peter Frampton - Great show - Never liked his music in high school - Wife is a fan and he is a great musician, story teller.

Chicago - at a small amphitheater - Good show, seems their music stops at 1985. First time seeing them live, had/have their albums, enjoyed their show, not flashy, just good musicians and music.

Paul McCartney - This year's show. Was expecting more Paul and Wings music, was 50/50 with that and Beatles. Realized that people go to Paul for Beatles music. Beatles music is great live, no matter which songs I like or don't like.

Genesis - This year's final show - Brought back memories of listening to a lot of their music. Good show, a shame that Phil Collins is in deteriorating shape.

Billy Joel - At the Austin USGP last year. Worked as a marshal for the race on the back straight. The track sets up a stage on the back straight. Got to hear him and the band practice their lead-ins and play other peoples music (Beatles and such).

Several tribute bands - Led Zeppelin (both independent and Jason Bonham), Beatles, Pink Floyd, Stevie Ray Vaughan

The three shows I will never forget;

Filter USO tour in Kuwait - I was front row and Richard Patrick took my camera out of my hand and walked around recording video of the band while singing Hey Man Nice Shot.

Tech N9ne USO tour in Kuwait - When he arrived on base he slipped and fell out of the helo and broke a rib, but he refused to cancel and did the entire show. He came down into the crowd and was rapping right there with us. I have video of him rapping right to my face somewhere.

Tiesto @ Decadence NYE 2015/16 - The atmosphere was amazing and it was my first time seeing Tiesto play. Fucking amazing. It's no wonder he was #1 DJ in the world for many years.

I'm curious - to those who saw Phil Collins for his latest tour - how was it? Badly wanted to see him - he's one of my all time favorites.

Speaking of Tiesto - I met him at music festival walking around right after ISOS 2 was released - super nice of course.

The Chemical Bros @ coachella yrs ago was epic, and Perry Farrell's dj set was fun too that yr.

Metallica - Black album tour, I was 10-11. Not only have I always been a big Metallica fan, many women were constantly flashing the stage so that was fun.

The most recent Metallica tour a few years. For one song, they had a really cool setup where a bunch of small preprogrammed drones flew out from under the stage with twinkling lights and flew back on their own.

Rush R40 - It was their last tour I took my dad, we had floor seats in Tulsa, which was the first show of the tour. They had rented out the BOK for the week before the show to get all the details and stage changes right, sounded great.

So many other bands, QOTSA, Pantera (with all the original guys on The Great Southern Trendkill tour), Mastodon, Gojira, Motorhead open for Dio, John Entwistle, and many more

It was crazy how he could take pretty much any genre and mix them together and make it seamless, even non-edm. He was playing old hip-hop and rock and mixing them into bass music, trance, techno... I've been to a lot of festivals but he probably impressed me the most.

Tiesto and Armin are my two favs and I would probably squeal like a little girl if I met them.

I've seen Tiesto 3 times... one of those was by chance. I think he is very good but he was far from the best EDM shows I've been to... Of course referring to Ultra where you get to see everyone.

Boston. Rush, The Who. U2. The Cars. Yes. Pink Floyd. David Gilmore. Van Halen. Tom Petty. Def Leppard. Aerosmith. And many more that I can't remember because I was so polluted that I'm surprised I didn't die of alcohol poisoning.

Some great bands I've caught at my local under 100 person venue has been

Over the years some of these small acts will blow up. In 1981 I went to see Blondie with a friend and the opening band was really good. They had high energy, were well rehearsed and played a tight setlist. I didn't remember the bands name at the time but did remember one of their songs was called "Girls on Film"
