Also, can someone post a link to the new controller
If you're patient then a used one will come up on eBay. You may need to look at eBay.de. You could set up an alert on "9332412 bmw" and you'll get an email when one comes up. I do notice that cheapest price is currently 749EUR. I must have been lucky!

As for the controller just search for ebay for "NBT idrive touch controller" pretty sure mine came out of a 3 series but works just the same.

You got extremely lucky.
I feel like I got a good deal on mine for around $400.
Can you direct me to a link where I can purchase the rear housing Derboy?

The rear housing is # 65509380963

Cheapest I found was $40.
https://www.bmwdirectparts.com/oem-p...99-65509380963

The assembly is here:. https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/sho...diagId=65_2260

Finally got this done today.
Definitely worth it if you can acquire an LCI screen on the cheap.
The only other information I would add to Derboy's original post is regarding separating the old screen from the rear housing. It's best to use a small pry tool and wedge between the front and rear housing from the lower corners of the screen. Other than that it's a super easy mod and well worth it as the new screen is worlds better.

Another option with more functionality (ie Android, etc.) is this:

https://avinusa.com/gps-multimedia-systems/bmw.html

They already make multimedia navi system for multiple BMW models (F10, F15/16, F30, etc.) They are based out of San Francisco. I inquired about products for F06/F12 and I was told they should have them by the end of this year.

Anyways, just throwing it out there, in case you guys want android functionality and more in your car.

Not yet, I'm debating on whether to do the swap or just get a cover to make the knob larger. $30 vs ~$150, and since I don't really care for touch functionality I may go the cheaper route as long as it looks OEM.

This is really cool, though I'm not going to do something like this while under factory warranty. I may try it out on our E60 if I decide to keep it for the next 5 years.

It won't. If you fit a cover over the knob it will encroach on the surrounding buttons.

No worries. Remember to order the rear housing. The existing one doesn't fit. I just got it from my dealer. Part number in my first post.

What's next, BMW China factory? lol

You think that all BMW parts are made in Germany!? I bet you think iPhones are made in California as well...

...and yes, BMW already has two production plants in China. As well as an R&D centre.

If you buy a new Monitor for your PC, does it give you a newer version of Windows?

...same thing here.
