Led 3rd Brake Light “lifting”

So I noticed the driver side of the Roof Led 3rd brake light is loose and lifts up and the rubber seal always goes under it. I keep trying to fix it but goes back. Any idea if I can pop this off and replace the clips or something or is this a whole new brake light.

It’s worse when it’s hot and I’m in AZ so it’s getting looser.

My buddy has 2016 M6 and has the same issue.

Your car info says you have an M3...so I'm not sure if the 3rd brake light is mounted the same without doing some research first. You can use the same link to the newtis.com website to find the instructions on how to access the 3rd brake light on your M3.

But for your friends M6 (I'll have to assume that its a 4 dr M6 GC since the 2 dr version's brake light is on the top of the trunk lid)...there are 6 hex nuts that secures a plate that holds the 3rd brake light. Make sure the hex nut is tight on the end(s) that are sticking up/becoming loose:

{you can see the location of the six hex nuts in pic below (#2)}
Click this link for instructions on how to remove the headliner to access the nuts that secures the 3rd brake light of the M6 GC: https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/f...ights/IzfgMYsP

I have 2014 M6 GC. Haven’t updated my profile yet. But awesome thanks for this. And wow that’s a lot of work to get to that. Hopefully the stud on the brake light didn’t break. Weird how it would just get loose and fall off.

Thanks for the update.

Perhaps you don't have to remove the entire headliner...since you only need to access the hex bolts instead of disconnecting the wiring connection to the brake light. Maybe you can loosen the rear enough to be able to check if the hex nut is loose and tighten it

Just a thought.
