Windows

So I do my own detailing. I enjoy it. And I do an excellent job. But I am absolutely crap with the windows. Lol. I’ve been using Sprayway with microfiber towels. I wonder if I should switch to good old winded and paper towels?

I'm the same way, a fanatic when it comes to detailing. Honestly, I have the best luck with a damp microfiber followed by a lightly damp clean one.

Or, if you want to purchase one, Meguiars Pure Clarity Glass Cleaner works well. It just takes a little practice on what to wipe it off with. I have the best luck with a cotton diaper vs a microfiber towel.

Another product that works great on your paint, especially on dark colors, is a product called https://aerolon.com/products/tech-shine-16oz-bottle-pad. It's not cheap, but, use it after a wash and your paint will shine like never before.

I use Invisible Glass by Stoner. You can buy it in most any auto parts store. I never use paper towels, except maybe for the initial wipe if the windows are dirty. Paper towels seem to have something on them or in them that smears. I use a clean t-shirt or towel type rag.

To me, microfiber towels are nearly useless for job like window cleaning.

Old newspaper used to be really good cleaning/drying windows (with your favorite window cleaning fluid)...but its harder and harder to find enough old news papers in this digital age.

Tech Shine looks very interesting. The fact that it is applied wet is something I have to wrap my head around. Lol. I’ve had great luck with Meguiar’s Ultimate Quick Detailer and their Ultimate Liquid Wax. I think my error is in using the microfiber cloths - on the windows. It’s funny, for years I paid ‘detail guys’ to take care of my cars, but now, since getting the 6 GC, I like doing it myself! And since she is Carbon Black - I end up doing it a lot.

Thanks! I completely forgot about the newspaper trick.

I think my main problem is that I’m using the microfiber towels. Years ago, when I used to detail my cars myself, I think I used T-shirts as well. I’ll give it a shot. It drives me nuts when the sun reflects off of a streaked windshield!
