The NWS has changed their minds about our forecast. We have gone from not enough forecasted snow to rate a winter storm watch (minimum 6") to a full-blown winter storm warning for 14-18" with possible power outages!

The weather scare channel had a graphic this morning showing 21" as their forecast over our town. I am fully expecting to see Jim Cantore setting up his remote broadcast truck somewhere in Orange County later today.

The scary thing for me is that the power companies to our south have already gone into storm mode, sending out customer alerts and booking mutual aid repair crews when they were in the bullseye. With the storm track now shifting north, our local power company is now in the bullseye...and has made no announcement or public web site post yet. Me thinks that I'll be making a run to the petrol store to fill a couple 5-gallon cans to feed our generator this afternoon.....

Woot! Wind blown but probably just got 8"-9" outside Chicago. Hard to tell since it went from piles a few feet deep to a few inches.

I caused this. After a few years with relatively no snow in New Jersey, on Friday I traded in my X-5 for a 430. It's okay, I LOVE snow, and would have traded sooner if I knew I could control the weather by my daily driver

I made it not snow significantly for three winters here by purchasing a snowmobile about 10 years ago. Ditto for making it rain every weekend for a whole summer when I bought a boat in the 1980's.....

The NWS has upped our forecast totals yet again. We're now in the 18-24" range. Our power company *finally* sent out a storm alert around lunch time.

We moved into this place the day of hurricane Sandy. Movers called and said everyone had cancelled so he could have three crews and three trucks in and out by 10:00 am. The guys were all hungover figuring they wouldn't be working. 2 hours after they were done the storm hit and knocked power out, but we were in!

I’m currently snowed in at my girlfriends house. Her husband has a Ford F-250 that is going to tow me out to the main road so I can head to Louisiana tomorrow. We’re currently eating brownies, drinking wine, and watching Harry Potter. Life in your thirties

The weather girl said she was expecting eight inches tonight. I thought to myself...Not with that face.

I went out to start our snowblower an hour ago. When I turned on the fuel petcock, it started dumping gasoline all over the driveway! Darn ($($((*(^ mice in the yard chewed through the fuel line...again!

At the rate our snow is piling up today, I'll be stuck at home until the spring if I can't get the snowblower running.....

I had a lawn mower where mice built a nest under the engine cowl. First time I used it in the spring, the nest caught fire and caused the engine to run at super high revs until it blew a hole through the cylinder. Amazingly, Home Depot took the lawn mower back and gave me a new one under warranty. The new one had holes in the engine cowl so you could see if there was a nest there.

It’s ridiculous out there. Shoveled and snow blowed at 9 this morning so I could go to my moms house. Her daytime aide called out. Thankfully the night time aide will stay until tomorrow. Went out to clean off my car at 1:00 and the snow was higher than my boot. So it was close to a foot. I’m proud of my beast. Got out of the driveway no problem. My brother inlaw sent me a text wondering how I got out. The side streets aren’t plowed yet but I was still able to go through the wall of snow the plow left covering the side streets. I don’t think I’m going anywhere till Wednesday.
