When does the BMW model year change?

Hello all,

I see many cars released in early, mid and late 2015 listed as 2016 year models. When does a 2015 released car officially become a 2016 model? Does it go by a cut off date or something else?

Thanks a lot.

In the USA market...you can tell what the official model year is by looking at the 10th digit of the VIN due to US federal DOT regulations. Model year and date of production can vary...but in this market...you can cut through the confusion by looking at the 10 VIN digit:
