Safe Purchase?

Found a 17' M6 in Space Gray with 30k miles. Car looks top notch aesthetically, I am only concerned about the horror stories of the S63Tu motors on here. What would you guys look for in order to insure that the car has been cared for and that the motor isn't going to blow up on me within the next couple thousand miles of ownership? Greatly appreciated!!

I would get from the dealer the whole car history as it is probably at 4 years and everything has been done at the dealer. Check exterior and interior condition in detail with a magnifying glass to confirm it is flawless.

Ask the owner for the service history.
There's always risk of problems in the future. I would purchase an extended warranty.

I can't recall seeing any such posts here, and I've been a member for some time. Rather the contrary, the S63Tu motor seems to be one of BMW's more reliable designs. So unless you can point to anything specific, I'd take it as hearsay.

Agree, and likely a confusion when people have been complaining about the E6x series cars and engine reliability... An M5/6 is an M5/6 - to some people...

Have a wander around the F10 M5 tuning section. It isn't super common but does happen a reasonable amount to tuned cars
