Engine Oil pressure light

Soo, out of nowhere I get a signal to stop driving due to engine oil pressure being low. I've heard that it could be the sensor and not anything serious. I dont want to take it in if its just a sensor/switch that needs replacing. Thats a cheap and easy fix right?

The best thing is to hook up a pressure gauge to verify whether it is the sensor or a real low oil pressure. This is a little more work but the safer approach.
