Ideal Parking Spot/Garage door opener

I lucked out today at the local pool and snagged this primo spot!

Has anyone else noticed that the BMW transponder in the mirror (for opening garage) is weak? The one in my Mercedes is MUCH stronger.

My 2015 640GC will open my garage door from about 75 yards away.

It's either very weak or the buttons are not responsive or fast enough.
I find having to continue holding down the button until the gate's acknowledge signal

Do any BMW's in the UK ever get equipped with this?

Haha! It's the West Hollywood Recreation Center/Library/Tennis Facility. Great new pool on the roof 25 meters long/25 yards wide. If I go at 1pm, I usually get an entire lane to myself. A HUGE improvement over my 12.5 yard pool that I was stuck with for 2.5 years because of the pandemic.

I live in an old neighborhood with a garage off an ally, and I press the button as soon as I turn into the alley even though I live 5 houses down so the door is fully open when I arrive. It's at least 75 yards and the garage is not visible. No idea how much sooner I could press it.

That is the most distinctly blue I have seen your car.

My f15 X5's 1st button has started to require a finessed touch to open my home's garage. Sometimes I can press it and the little amber light doesn't even flash...then I have to press it differently or harder...and it begins to flash and the door will open. But I think it is the button and not the opener because it wasn't that way at first...plus the 3rd button opens/closes a gate at work that doesn't get used as much and it operates normally.

The buttons on my f06 have no issues...and operates my home door and work gate without issue. The amber light on the mirror begins to flash with a simple press of each button.

I wonder if it needs a shot of electrical cleaner? I haven't been moved yet to look at it further.

I discovered a few years ago that the LED bulbs I put in my garage door opener on the ceiling interfere with the RF frequencies of remote controls. Maybe your Mercedes signal is at a different frequency than your 6?

It’s common that you have to hold down the button for like 2 seconds before the garage open. I swapped mines to X7 mirror. It’s frameless and buttons are one touch.

WOW! That's a huge bomb drop.

You throw out an upgrade like that but you chose to remain ambiguous as to what model/model year have or did this upgrade to.

This leaves all kinds of questions. Again, we have no clue what you have so was it a straight swap? Did you have to rewire the connection? Did you have to change the mount on the windshield?

Is the X7 mirror compatible starting from the first production of the f06/f12/f13...or do you need a later production model year? Do you look for the rearview mirror that is EC/LED/FLA compatible or the one that is EC/LED/GTO compatible?

Any F series can upgrade to G series mirrors. The mount and plug different so you would have to swap mount and plug over. Wires are the same.

Thanks for the additional info. Good to know...especially if your mirror gets damaged and you're looking for a replacment (or upgrade).
