Instrument Cluster Scratch - Any suggestions?
I recently moved from '09 E64 to '14 F13 (CPO) and have loved the upgrade. The E64 was nicely equipped, but the F13 is positively loaded.
One thing that gets my attention every day is a very noticeable scratch across the lens of the (multifunction) instrument cluster. I have been doing some research and it appears there are lots of ways to make it worse. I thought I would solicit help from this group. Any good suggestions on polishing or other means to remove, or at least, minimize the visibility of this scratch? Any help is greatly appreciated. I've had similar blemishes on past cars and only made them worse when I used various compounds. |

After looking at responses and a bit more investigation, I found that Meguiar's PlastX (not ScratchX, as it is for paint finishes) was recommended on other sites.
A quick trip to the local auto supply store and quick polish per the instructions and I am quite pleased with the results. I see a bit of both scratches left over in the photo, but don't see them just looking at the instrument panel. I now know that this works and will re-do if I still see the scratches when driving around. Please note: This product appears to be for headlights and other plastics and specifically says not to use on Navigation Screens. Nav screens are the ones with anti-glare coatings that can be damaged if polished. Thanks for the suggestions. S Here are the results: |
