Looks great but it seems to occupy a similar niche as the AMG GT. I know the GT is supposed to be sportier, but in today's market is there really room for both cars in their portfolio?

But hey I applaud it. In today's day and ago, who am I to complain about another sports car on the market?

Definitely a niche but the next GT will remain a coupe only with the SL occupying the space that the GT Roadster had. The SL will essentially be a more comfortable and liveable version of the next GT which also will share the SL's new and bespoke platform, although will be front-mid engined still. The SL nameplate is just too historic and important for MB to throw away.
