Any high mileage 6's out there? [north of 100,000 miles]

Hello everyone! I am curious about any high mileage 6's out there?

I am currently at 76,000 miles, and luckily not a single electronic or mechanical problem (knock on wood). A few "minor" things like front seats moving side to side (taken care of by lubricating the joints underneath), replacing the terrible run flat tires, and trunk struts going bad (getting replaced under warranty next week). Other than that, my 640i Gran Coupe has been pretty solid for the year that I have owned it, and I'd like for it to remain that way.

So, I would love to hear about everyone's experiences! Generally, I feel our F06/F12/F13 platform is a bit more reliable than other platforms from that era, and much better than the previous E63/E64 generation. I am curious if anyone is well past the 100,000 mile mark!

1.) Please state the year and model of your car (640i, 640d, 650i, M6)

2.) Your current mileage and length of ownership

3.) And any notable repairs/mechanical failures/electrical issues

I have a 2014 M6 GC Comp coming up on 97k miles. The only issues I've come across are boost solenoids giving out and the infamous turbo coolant lines cracking, and therefore; leaking. The last 20k miles, or so, have been hard driven miles too. Truly impressed what these beasts are capable of handling. Other than that it's all been maintenance upkeep.

May 2013 640D GC, now on 133,000miles in the UK. owned for 15 months and covered just shy of 30,000 in the last year. front arms have been replaced but only due to wear not major fault, prop joint/doughnut at the same visit, had what could only be described as a flood in the rear passenger seat caused by blocked drainage line from the engine bay, also once had the car cut out on me, there was a historic issue where a previous owner dropped fluid in the storage recess in the boot, fluid leaked on to the fuse box beneath.

The wheels are made from chocolate, the rears do not last long at all with size 11 feet, but have paid out for new wheels and non run flats that are going on next week. the car has VDC so to me the drive hasn't been horrific on RF, but i do mostly sit on motorways. am keen to see the difference next week.

Oh and had severe breaking shudder that was put down to warped disks.

Don't believe any of the above is too out of the ordinary considering mileage, sure enough it isn't as cheap as a 118d to run but i wouldn't change it

I’m on 133k miles now… 2015 640d convertible… had it about 2 years, no faults so far except a dodgy roof sensor which I’m waiting for a part…
Can’t fault the amount of car for the money!

I’m at 94k miles on a 2013 650i. I’ve had it since about 50k.

Other than routine maintenance my 650i has been pure pleasure.

2015 lci 640i gc, 105k miles, daily driven

Only had to do front brake discs and pads recently - genuine bmw of course. Other than that absolutely nothing. I bought it early this year just before lockdown ended and prices shot up.

Just hit 122,000 miles in my 2016 650i with the n63tu engine- still perfect. Did preventative maintenance. Nothing outside of oil changes needed til 148k.

This thread will quickly turn into the 200k mile thread. Lets clock up that mileage. Cars are meant to be driven Im on 111k now. Seem to be doing 12k miles a year.

I am at 129k miles with a 2013 650xi gran coupe, heatsync tuned.

No super major things ( I have my own workshop so my definition of major might be a bit coloured ).

Recently replaces wastegate vacuum lines, PCV hoses and valves, turbo coolant lines, serpentine belt and ac belt and tensioner.

Car still feels great, no oil consumption (massively improved after changing the cracked PCV valves)

Just surpassed 70k for my 2015 640i GC. No issues other than a flakey Left Low Beam Fault. Turning the headlights off then back to auto corrects the issue. Plan to replace the water pump and thermostat this summer as a precaution. May do belt, pulleys and plugs too. Other than that, routine maintenance.

My car is running absolutely fine. No engine hesitation perfect cold start etc. But I still feel it's coming to that time of doing some maintenance. Everything is still original. On my list is spark plugs and coils, and the valve cover. I can see a small leak around the back left.

Will use the above job to inspect more of the car around ofhg. This is like the good old m54, but it a bit more reliable it seems, just every job takes a bit longer to do.

Good to know these can do high miles!

My Polo 1.9 TDI is upto 250k but dont think it will pass the next MOT because of bloody rust. Been looking at 640Ds for awhile now, prices seems to be all over the places. 2014+ LCI.

hi..i am in the uk same as you..
first lci models were on a 65 plate (late 2015) you can tell lci by indicators in the wing mirrors and one less slat in front grills.
on uk autotrader there are only approx 20 lci 640d for sale in the whole of uk...
it took me 10 months to find mine.
you can check bmw databace for services/miliage/work done to a prospective car call 08003256000 option 1..you need to quote the registration.
i also came accross very low miliage cars showind 5k to 15k miles that had failed mot on brake discs, front tyres, shockers ect..obviously the miliage was not correct on the car..i suspected miliage blockers had been used..at least half the cars i looked into as a potential purchase had some sort of discrepancy.
be carefull !! but a good 640d is awesome..
for me an m sport with black headliner and black seats/dash/carpets was too dark/morbid..
comfort seats are fantastic and much better quality nappa leather than standard plasticky dakota leather with pretend embossed grain.
