Navigation Update Question for those with auto updates.

So the car has the lifetime navigation regional update option, but my road maps are dated 2017-4. Regional update (Northeast US) dates 2020-1.
My question is how can I update the road maps to the newest version and not lose the automatic regional updates? Here's a picture of what shows up on the software section in navigation setting:

I have a 2017 650i xDrive. How do I know if I have automatic updates for my Nav?

There’s several ways to get there…you can go into SETTINGS and scroll down to NAVIGATION…or you can pull up NAV (press the button by the scroll knob then press the OPTION button (which should give you a selection that say something like VERSION.

When you see the VERSION screen…your road map version & date will be listed at the top.

If you have auto updated regional maps…they will be listed at the bottom (see pic below):

There are free downloadable maps offered across multiple BMW forums, you can also use vendors that sell updated maps & FSC codes (you will need an FSC code to update your road map version). Or you can spend $$$ at your local BMW dealership for updated road maps.

I just got an email a week or so ago from the vendor I used to update my maps (I also purchased a lifetime FSC code with my first map update so all I need for any other updates are the maps).

Here’s a link to a vendor that sells map updates that you can check out to see what is out there: https://bimmernaviupdates.com/

You can also simply google “BMW map updates” to get more info about other ways (free & pay).

Thanks for the link. I actually purchased a map update and lifetime fsc code from a similar vendor. For some reason it did not show automatic updates in the software section before I went in for warranty work and the dealer someone bricked the hard drive during programming. So my dilemma is how to update the road maps and keep lifetime updates?

I think it can be done with esys. I am exploring this when I have time. Would like to diy map updates. Don't see why we should pay.

Definately would be fantastic if there is a workaround to avoid yearly charges to update.

Attached instructions on how to generate your own fsc code.

When i get the time i'll have a go. Latest map can be had from ebay for £5. you can buy the fsc code as well for £20. I want to figure this out

This should be "easy" to do.

Anyway to verify if there is a way to generate the fsc code that keeps the automatic update feature intact while updating the map database to the most current one?
