Who test drove m550 then bought 650gc?
I was wondering who here test drove both cars to end up buying a 650gc instead? I'm going back and forth on the two. The m550 is newer more modern with a little more tech, but not much and isn't as good looking. The 650gc is more premium with nicer build inside and better looking. It's last gen high end vs current gen mid grade.

I owned an F10 550xi before my 650xi GC. I considered going back to a 550 when this current generation launched. After experiencing the new 5, it just didn't feel nearly as good as the 6... or honestly, even the last gen F10. I feel like they cut some corners, and the design is just a tweak of the F10... not even a great tweak.
The M550 has loads of power and some newer tech, but neither is substantial enough to matter to me. The 650 has a lot of power - most of the time it's not tapped, so more power was unnecessary for me. On the tech side, I like some of the new goodies, but they're SO incremental in value that it just didn't move the needle enough there, either. Not only does the 6 look a lot better, but as you correctly pointed out, it's more premium. The materials, fit and finish - just nicer. I recently had a 5 series loaner while my 6 was in for service - reinforced this view for me. The 5 is a perfectly good car, but it's no 6 series in terms of looks and quality.
