How to get more turbo sound.....
The car is far more powerful than my driving abilities. I am searching for more of an aesthetic turbo sound. (Not the BMW crap pumped in the car)
I have installed VRSF downpipes, BM3 stage 2 tune, removed the charcoal filters, and dropped in K&N Filters. Would an aftermarket intake give me more of a noticeable increase in turbo sound? (Dinan or BMS) I like the exhaust note as it is. (the car has the comp package) So adding an exhaust is not at the top of my list. Thoughts? Anyone with a Dinan or BMW intake care to share their first hand knowledge? I appreciate all comments, but "theory" does not interest me. I would prefer people with first hand knowledge to share.

You will definitely get more turbo sound and hear blow off with aftermarket intake. The stock air box muffles the sound. Not sure how Dinan sounds compared to others or if it justifies the price tag. You probably wont notice any power increase with aftermarket intake since you already have charcoal delete. You can build your own for a fraction of the cost. There are plenty of videos on how to build your own and how the intake sounds.
Unpopular suggestion, but if you are going for just sound, I believe you will achieve the most sound if your intake is routed to the kidney grills rather than the engine bay. If you are looking for more of a turbo whistling sound then catless downpipes is your best bet, ignore this if you already are catless. |

Putting the intakes in the path of water (rain) seems like a bad idea to me....... Putting water socks on the filters have caused air flow restrictions in my past experiences.

As itzjoker said, you're not going to get much more sound without a front mount option. I've been running mine for a few years (including in torrential downpours) without issue. Any water vapor that makes it in the intakes probably acts more as water injection cooling than anything.
