Retrofit Wireless charging plate

Did this tonight. Took me 20 minutes. Extremely easy on our cars.

If you look at the pad it has a spring in it and rubber bumpers, the phone sits in between the bumpers and doesn't move.

Sorry. I didn’t take any. Can only take a photo of the finished job which you’ll find anywhere online by googling.

You find this helpful if you want a better idea of how it works

$300 seems a bit pricey. I hated the space that the snap in adapter claimed so I totally removed mine.

I thought about doing this, but I decided to pass on this. Drawing power from your $700 vehicle battery for charging a cell phone seems to be very expensive and inefficient.

In fact, I don't even plug in my phone to charge in my car. I'd rather use a power bank.

You have some weird perspectives on cars...

"I paid £118 ($162USD) for mine brand new" Just got the $300 from the msrp.

"Drawing power from your $700 vehicle battery for charging a cell phone seems to be very expensive and inefficient" Just got a new one after 5 years, $472 installed (includes coding"). That said, when a car is running your battery does not charge the cell phone, the alternator does through engine energy. Though you could argue that the cell phone decreases gas mileage (by about .0000001 or so)

Why? Charging your phone from the car will have no meaningful impact on the car battery and even less so when the car is actually running.

Thanks for the info on this Derboy - I always thought those clip in adapters were somewhat antiquated.

If anyone in the UK is planning on buying one then the BMW online shop is currently offering 15% off all parts & accessories up until 31-Jan-2018.

So the RRP is £134 here in the UK (about 180 USD) but with £20 discount and £2 postage I've ordered one for delivery for £115 all in.

No worries mate. Really is a doddle to fit and signal reception is the same as it uses the same signal plate inside that runs to the outer aerial (in the bootlid I believe).

Does the car remind you that the phone is on the charger when you turn the car off?
