Comfort seat retrofit f06 help please
Hi. I could do with some help. I've got a 640i GC lci with the standard sports heated seats.
Picked up some comfort seats today. Need help with the retrofit. Any additional wiring required? Coding I will figure out later on. I am quite handy, I've got ista d but not p yet. Came from an E46 and learnt alot from tinkering with that over the years. I want my f06 to be well specced so would like to retrofit as much as possible. Thankfully it has active cruise, heads up, led headlights, lane assist and collision warning already. I've also got the rear camera parts ready but no wiring loom. Want to retrofit this as well. And later on soft close doors. Maybe rear blinds if it pops up for sale one day. If anyone can point me in the right direction it would be most appreciated. Edit: UPDATE: SUCCESS!!!. All that was required was power to pin 1 on both seat plug connectors ! Last edited by ex46fanatic; 06-08-2021 at 04:50 PM.. |

You could simply plug and play to see what works and what doesn’t. You could probably also add the comfort seat option code to the FA and then code all the modules. I’ll dig up the wiring diagrams for you. Do you know what model 6er the donor seats came from?

Thanks for the reply. Yes I'll certainly swap and see but I am not expecting much. I've found an image of a seat plug for comfort seats on a 4 series for comparison. That's it.
A wiring diagram would be amazing. Ista d doesn't have it. Wish they had retrofit manuals on there for this and the rear view camera. When I fitted heated seats on my E46 it was very easy. I am aware of the basics. Correct gauge wire etc. Continuity and resistance. Can use a multimeter. I have no problem with sourcing BMW pins and running new wires, just need the direction that's all. I am not qualified in anything, but I am experienced. Will be setting up ista p shortly as well (new laptop with larger ssd on way). Old laptop could only hold ista d. Thanks and look forward to documenting this for others to do! We really need more retrofit threads. Ps the seats I was told may have come from a 2015 car. I am not sure. The eBay seller bought them used for his 6er which he replaced for an M3 shortly after. |

You did get comfort seats for the F12/13 so a retrofit is still possible. |

I have this to do and the rear view camera later on finding it hard to source the extra long camera cable for f06 running from the camera to the head unit. Otherwise almost good to go there. Anyone know what these seats are worth ? I have the matching b pillars as well. |

What did become standard for lci was led headlights and headsup display here, not sure if reverse camera became standard later on like in the US. |

The latter (rear back-up camera) should have been a given across any six series model at the price point it was sold due to the design of the car’s rear view visibility from the driver’s seat.

Ok been studying the wiring. I found the supply wiring diagram for driver/passenger seat module. My vin is d98825. My car is late 2015 LCI. I hope they made retrofitting easier with the Lci.
All I see is power, ground, can h and can l in the seat connector plug x14*1b. I see no variations of this diagram for comfort/sports seats. Does this mean I may not have to do any wiring at all? That the supply is already there? My existing seats are both memory so am I right in expecting can h and l to already be there for both seat plugs? Also - it seems on other f series, when they added comfort seats some people added power to pin 1 on seat plug x14*1b. I see no diagram showing power to pin 1 on plug x14*1b on ista for my car. Should really stop over thinking it and just see what happens. But from what I can see - there is no additional wiring to do for me... Last edited by ex46fanatic; 06-07-2021 at 09:05 PM.. |

KL30 represents (voltage) & KL31 represents (earth/ground) when the ignition is turned on.

Ok I swapped seats. Got nothing, no movement. Not sure if power is there.
I have a driver restraint system error. (Not concerned will clear if I have to revert). I have fitted the comfort seats with the comfort moldules. Do I need to code the car first for things to work? I was expecting some power for movement at least. Will have another look. |

Ok guys I compared the existing seat plug with the connection on the comfort seats.
I am missing pin 1 on the seat plug I think pin one is power. 0.75mm2 cable based on what I've read when others retrofitted comfort seats to f series. I'm going to the shops now to get some cable. Im going to splice into existing 2.5mm2 power cable with inline fuse 10amp. |

Success. Putting power to pin 1 allows everything to work. Except for memory which will be fixed when coding is done.
Now I need to find out where to actually connect pin 1 to properly. The splice/wire tap is temporary. |

So only thing not working is the forward back button for rear passenger. And memory buttons. My esys cable just came today. Will get that set up soon as I can. Very pleased so far!
Tomorrow will tackle rear seats. |

I can definitely sympathize though, I wired in electric seats into an e46 which didn't have any of the cable pre-laid for it. |
