final model year!

It appears they've added:

-Frozen Brilliant White ($3600)
-Aragon Brown leather
-badge deletion option
-satin aluminum exterior trim (as opposed to shadowline base)
-red sycamore wood trim

-Removed beige leather

-Limited the 6MT, such that it cannot be offered with ZCP or Piano Black

-Continue to show the 433 wheels in gloss black

-corrected the 343 wheel spec figures in the marketing materials they've incorrectly stated since 2014 (all wheels are 20 x 9.5 and 20 x 10.5)

I thought production for MY19 starts in June / July and as the production of the GC stopped in march there will be no MY19 at all. no?

The 2019 MY ran thru the end of September, 2018. The last M6 VIN is: WBS6E9C55KG808477

According to my local BMW dealer, the Dingolfing plant was originally planning to make the M6 and take new orders thru February, 2019. However, the decision was made to end production at the end Of September. I have been unable to independently verify this piece of information.

If anyone “in the know” could verify this, I would like to know as well.

Take care,
Danny

According to this website, GC production indeed ended in September 2018. Though confusingly, BMWUSA website still allows you to build a M6GC on its website right now.

Model year rules vary between Europe and USA. Traditionally, new model years start in October of every month in the USA to coincide with tv advertising, but new model years can be as early as 3rd calendar quarter starting in July! Only rules in USA that government model year designations are done for emissions purposes, but has great flexibility, read this:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Model_year

So don't be too hung up on the 2019 designation. It's no different than a 2018 model.

Yeah .... Last month, fortified with the presumption that I could still get an M6 built, I took a very pretty build sheet from BMWUSA to my local BMW dealer. My CA initially had information that I could still get one built, as long as the order went in before the first of December. His info was that the plant would still be building M6's for MY2019 until February. But after sending in the request, BMW said no, and went on to say that the decision was made to end production of the M6 at the end of September.

Fortunately, I was able to find a new m6 with almost all the items on my spec sheet, so things turned out well.

congrats, and consider yourself lucky to find the one you wanted in that configuration.

I'm surprised certain dealership management allowed their sales to configure and build a 2019 car knowing that the car was not spoken for at time of order and that it was going to be the final model year with the 850 AND the F90 sitting on the same floor!

Back in 2013, they did it with the launch year for people who cannot wait and must be the first to get the car, but I noticed between 2015 to now, pretty much no one had a new M6 on the floor. They were mostly all built to order.

btw here's the final M6 production stats: https://bmwmregistry.com/model_faq.php?id=59

Thanks. I don't know the full story behind my new purchase, other than it made it to the BMW dealer on Long Island in October and sat on the showroom floor for a month, before I scooped it up in mid-November and had it shipped to Ohio. It only had 10 miles on the odometer, so clearly there weren't many test drives.

They didn't mention if it was made to order, and the buyer backed out, but my CA indicated that they were happy to part with it. With winter approaching, I can imagine that dealership sweating bullets over that kind of inventory sitting on their floor. RWD manual trannies aren't exactly perfect combinations in the snow. Oh well, tough poop for them. I absolutely love the car.

Does anyone know if they are going to build the 6 series for 2020? My dealer does not know for sure. Thanks.

You don't want a car built right after October fest anyway
