That was Caravaggio (1571-1610), not 'the' Michelangelo of The Sistine Chapel and the Pietà (1475-1564).

Both brilliant artists, both complex tormented personalities but in a different way. If Michelangelo was rather a revered but solitary Batman, then Caravaggio was more like The Joker / Dark Knight, a dark freak on the run frequently picking violent fights.

How Michelangelo handled a clown criticizing his "David":
"When Piero Soderini, the Standard Bearer of Justice in Florence, said that Michelangelo’s David had too thick a nose, the artist responded with an elegant sleight of hand: Michelangelo climbed the scaffold, and grabbed his hammer and chisel and a handful of marble dust. He tapped lightly on the chisel, permitting dust to fall little by little from his hand, without actually altering anything. “Ah that’s much better,” exclaimed the duped observer. Michelangelo climbed down, “feeling sorry for those critics who talk nonsense in the hope of appearing well informed.”"

Would not trust myself and the driving public without modern safety features.

PS - just noticed that I lusted after that car in '68, and I am now 68. lol

Haha, I've seen that before. Yeah, maybe something like that.

Here's the long version of the video, including the injuries.

Edit: and think about the innocent people in their cars in front who got hit. What happened to them? What if there were kids involved?

A lot of teachable moments in that encounter, but the "old collector car" and what can go wrong is the primary theme. And this happens more often than we like to admit.

My first car was a 1967 Ford Fairlane 289. What a wonderful car.....in 1967. In 2023, it's a deathtrap.

EVERYTHING in that interior is metal except the seats. EVERYTHING. And the crumple zones were your knees. It's a miracle any of us survived.

When you realize that BMW E9X series is going to turn 20 years old soon and
the supposedly new F3X is already a decade old...
Life hit me hard!

I'd put him at middle age: he didn't make sure no one was watching him other than the kid.

...when you go into an IHOP to eat and these things happen:

1) You know what the I in IHOP used to stand for....

2) You see a bunch of customers with white hair and you realize that you are one of them...

3) You look at the Senior Menu to see if you qualify and you realize you've met the age criteria for the past 18 years!....

4) The coffee tastes better than Starbucks....

The roads would be a lot safer if more people did this. It amazes me how most drivers have no idea how to drive in the snow. I have AWD and snow tires. I adjust my driving to road conditions but there are always the morons blowing past me only to wind up in the shoulder or ditch because they have no clue.
