F06 NBT2 non touch to touch screen?

Hi guys,

Any one retrofitted touch screen into their F06 yet? I have nbt2 with carplay and would like to get the touchscreen but not sure if that would be as easy just. Hanging the screen or do I need more hardware? Will replacing the screen create any issues with the BMW software and warranty? Will BMW can find out easily? Thanks

Not helpful here, but wondering what is the benefit of a touchscreen at that distance?
With iDrive controller i never wished for a touchscreen.

No, you do not need additional hardware. Your iDrive computer may need a software update and coding

Yes, it is likely to cause a problem with your warranty.

Yes, it is likely to cause confusion at the dealer since the master file for your car won't have a touch screen in the build list

100% agree. The screen is too far away for it to be useful. I suspect that the op is after this purely for ease of use with CarPlay.

Same here. Isn't it more convenient to use the knob than reaching to the screen?! Touching the screen is WAY more distracting than using the knob, plus, l like to have a clean screen from all fingers smudges.
I'm glad BMW kept the knob unlike other auto manufacturers.

My advice to the OP not to mess up with the hardware. You will be opening a can of worms

Thanks guys, for me honestly I like to use the idrive and steering wheel install touchscreen however for passenger its not that comfortable. It would be nice to have. Touchscreen would be a nice option to have for passenger seat occupier 😀

Oh my goodness this is so true, I love my F06 but the interface for the iDrive is Horrendous for a passenger, and in my life they seem to be using it often more than I am as I’m commuting. The touchscreen absolutely is more user-friendly for them.

I recently replaced my screen and also retrofitted CarPlay via mmi prime... posted this onto the m6 thread as diy...

The idrive nav works great without the need for touchscreen.
