Looking to buy a Coupe!
Hey guys in the market for a 2014+ M6 Coupe. I really want something with CPO or warranty. I just sold my 2007 M5 and that car was such a pain. With these new M6, if i were to op one with no warranty with 30k miles, is there any major issues i should be worrying about? The CPO are that much more..
Please let me know your inputs! |

I am days away from trading in my 2014 Alpine White m6 with 34k miles. Looking for $50k on a car with a $128k window. Let me know if you are interested. Thanks.

I have a 2010 M5 I'm prepping for sale, but this one has been problem free. I didn't see this one since I wanted a GC. It is CPO, decent mileage. https://lbsfcu.cudlautosmart.com/Veh...ViewSource=SRP You can search the VIN (WBSLX9C54FD160655) to see all the options https://www.bmwvin.com/ Happy hunting! |

What pain did you experience with your M5? I'm just curious as I owned a 08 M3 (similar motor) and it was by far the most reliable car I've ever owned.
I think the jury is still out on the S63B44 as it was only introduced in 2010. The O0 motors (in the E70/1 X5/6M) had some recalls, but for the most part, the motors themselves are okay and pretty robust. The M6s are all T0 updated powertrains with new features like valvetronic and higher compressions. I think you'll mostly experience general turbo car and BMW issues over course of the ownership that's not unique to 6 series such as components causing increased battery discharge, and coolant/oil line leaks. There were some components that got extended warranties out to the 10-year mark like injectors and fuel pumps. In any case, the M6 is mechanically the same as the F10 M5. You might get better information asking the F10 owners on that part of the forum as there is much more M5 owners out there than M6 owners, and they've probably seen their fair share of issues.

I got my M6 about a year ago with 28k miles on it. It's a 2013 car and the warranty has already expired since I bought the car last year. Right now I'm 500 miles away from 50k miles because I daily drive it, so far there has been zero issues with the car but I do maintain it a little bit more like changing oil every 5k miles, keep it under 3k rpm until the engine is at its optimum temperature, etc. I think if you take a good care of it you will be fine. And also I do send my engine oil for analysis (Blackstone) every once in a while.

Just turned in my 2015 M5 with 22,000 miles at end of lease; they wanted 76k for the buyout and I purchased a 2015 M6 Coupe with 20,000 miles with CP and the color I wanted for $59k and change. Car was CPO with warranty extended two years and I purchased full-maintenance for 6 years.
Very happy and love the car-the M6 in my book is so much better riding and is a head turner. It is pretty hard to find anything of equal value when pickup trucks cost $60,000! |

I subscribed to Car Gurus and other sites and expressed my preferences to search within 100 miles and I saw the car at a dealership in North Hollywood. After researching for a month or so, one night i checked boxes for two cars I was interested in and lo and behold, I was contacted immediately and the next day i decided. The following day, drove my M5 up to the BMW dealer in North Hollywood, took delivery of the M6 and they took the end of lease M5 off my hands. It was incredibly easy.
There is also a local dealer in used high performance BMW's here called California Beemers with a good website and you can follow cars and their various price drops and get information on mileage, options etc. Its really pretty easy, just take your time and you'll end up in a good spot! |

My biggest problem has been gasket failure. Timing Chain gasket failed and required engine removal to replace. Valve cover gasket also failed. Possible cause is high heat from turbos (that's why car runs so long after shutting off. Mike Miller suggested popping hood when shutting off.

You can opt for a 2016 low mile examples I have seen going through auction for low 60’s. Not sure what retail would be but most have at minimum 1 year plus left of manufacturer warranty which will save you on that added cost for a cpo vehicle

Everyone should use the site autotempest.com. It compiles all cars from eBay, Craigslist, cars.com, autotrader etc. across the entire country. Used it to find my m6
