A cause for celebration - Upcoming GT still looks a bit frumpy
BIMMERPOST NEWS A cause for celebration - Upcoming GT still looks a bit frumpy Ok ok. I know i'm in a very small minority here, but this is truly good news. The next 5-Series GT, or actually G32 6-Series GT? has been spied and its nothing like the 'sleeker' renders we have seen before. And I think its more the better for it. Afterall, who needs another cookie-cutter vehicle in the BMW line-up. The GT car is highly practical for a sedan based vehicle and should have the uniqueness that BMW likes to infuse into many of its models |

If it weren't for the GT buyers, the US would still have a wagon.

Yikes, not the best pictures I've seen.
However, I remember reading or hearing somewhere about how BMW made an extra panel to reshape the rear and hide its true design, leading to the frumpy looking rear again. Hoping that's the reason why. The LCI GT (the one I have) definitely did improve the rear greatly over the original pre-LCI, but I still think the roofline should've flowed into the lower line of the trunk rather than form a little lump on the rear end. Also, get rid of the ridiculously high suspension (and awful wheel gap) from the factory. It doesn't need to be any taller than a G30/G12; that's what kills the looks.

Man, this car is the ugly duckling of the lineup... only it doesn't end up being the elegant swan!

They just need to put the rear of an x1 on it and call it a day. I would love a BMW hatch or wagon and have owned a lot of hatches through the years but the GT has the same awkwardness of the Panamera where it just doesn't look quite right as a sedan or hatch.

Cool video... Bentley front end? Makes the end product less unfortunate looking!

Calling this abomination a 6 series is going to leave a bad taste in the mouth of anyone that bought an E6X or F1X/F06 6er. Please don't. The 6 series still has a good image and some exclusivity - don't destroy it.

I hope we will still have a new generation for 6 series with the elegant and sporty models, but not only a 6GT which might be practical, but from a design point of view it's a total nonsense!

Moving this to the 6 series baffles me but I guess we'll see a 6-series GT and 6-series GC but no more coupe. Who knows lol. |

The 6 GC is the single car id buy if funds were no issue. Reply ice the GC with this is unthinkable. In my opinion.
