We were on the phone last night until after midnight like a couple of foolish teenagers. It's almost embarrassing but it is so easy being together and we laugh our butts off all the time.

For all of my life I believed that people saying they were married to their best friend was complete BS. I simply couldn't fathom the concept. Fortunately, I have been proven wrong. She really has become my best friend. We have no secrets between us. Good, bad, or ugly. It's all on the table and we are both more free from it. If something is on her mind she tells me, straight up, and I do the same. It is, without doubt, the most liberating thing I've ever experienced in a relationship. Not posturing, no BS.

She's amazing.

She already offered to sign anything my family puts before her. Seriously.

She makes a serious executive salary and, frankly, it's nice to date a complete equal. Both corporate backgrounds in senior leadership, Fortune 500 and Dow 30 experience and no BS attitudes. It's sooooooooooo refreshing!!

Hinge was recommended but Bumble seems to be better. Cuter women and they seem to be more interested. Maybe the "ladies first" makes them feel safer to put it out there. Hinge for pen pals, bumble for actual dates.

Alright guys and gals, collective input requested here. Do you all buy gifts for your significant other for mother's or father's day? I mean, she is a mother....but to me it seems weird to by a gift for someone who isn't my mother. Thoughts/opinions appreciated.

Currently single, but in the past yes I have. Anything to celebrate your woman, mothers day or not, do it. My $.02.

My take on it is that you buy for/celebrate your own mother. I would certainly encourage and support my girlfriend's children in any way they choose to celebrate their mother. That could mean taking the whole family out for dinner, taking the kids shopping and even helping financially with any reasonable gift purchase the kids want to make. I hope my .02 helps.

Yes, sort of...my wife and I tend to do a nice brunch so its kind of like I'm treating myself too. My mom is back up north every mothers day so she just gets flowers

Thank you gents. I'll have to come up with something. A gift just seems weird to me. Taking her and the kids out to eat might be something to consider. Although we have been together for 5 years, the kids and I aren't where it would be considered normal for me to take them anywhere without their mother. I sporadically see the kids since they aren't there all the time. Evenings, I'm usually at the gym between 6- 8, so by the time I get to her, they are usually in bed.

I participate in any festivities, and will TRY to keep my wife out of the kitchen/sink

There seems to be this thing with gifts that the nuance is make it a “surprise” and be thoughtful. Those are the best gifts, although on typical non Hallmark holidays it’s still expected that you give them so let’s not get started on if it’s truly a surprise and if it’s optional…

As for mother’s/Father’s Day the war department and I take a different approach. I ask her what she wants, and she I. This is outside the bounds of normal, but again I detest the notion of expected surprise previously aforementioned. Every year my only request is to allow me to have a day where I don’t have to cook, clean, take care of kids etc. a “free day” if you will. She has recently followed suit. Guess what I’m suggesting is you give it a try and ask what would make her most happy as a mother? Doing something for her children? Something as a family unit? Giving her reprieve and taking on her motherly duties?

Just a thought, toss it out if it sucks for you.
