High Definition Screen swap

This is going to be a weird one -

I am not interested in ID5/ID6 - but wouldnt mind the new bevel-less high resoution screen - can this be swapped in with my 2013 screen?

Have the NBT hardware but unsure if it is compatible with the new screen only.

Anyone know please?

PS - does anyone really use gesture control and the touchpad? I mean seriously??

If you mean swapping from the matte grey or black screen with the fat silver bezel to the black glass screen then yep, entirely possible and not too expensive either. It's mostly plug and play. Just needs minor modification for the backing plate to fit properly. Here's a link to my thread including a link to buy the screen: https://www.6post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1600857

As for the touch pad, yep, I use it to search spotify. Took alot of practice since it's on the left side, but now I can quickly scribble a search term without taking my eyes off the road.

And gestures, nah, don't use them at all. Only real use would be map zooming but I use the voice control for that.

Thanks hugo_nz once again for starting that thread over there. I did update the screen, but the screen resolution is the same. The screen look is updated and the screen seem a bit more saturated/"glassier". Nicer image quality overall, but same resolution.

For those who might be tempted to swap out the OEM screen for an aftermarket Android unit, let my experience serve as a warning.

I purchased a Witson unit for my F13 M6 CIC and thought it's been properly installed, I am plagued by constant errors relating to the Adaptive Headlamp. Every time I switch from iDrive to the Android environment, the error in the dash gets triggered and I get the warning 'blonnng... blonnng... blonnng...' for what seems an eternity.

This seems clearly firmware related. There is absolutely no error on installation on my part. My iDrive know functions perfectly when In CIC, but the moment I switch to Android, it loses its mind.

Witson has been only marginally helpful and does not seem motivated to address the problem despite months of time and dozens of emails photos and even YouTube videos. Because I suspect that they also produce the AVIN units, this likely applies to those also.

Just wanted to provide a notice for those of you who might be tempted to go down the same path. Buyer beware.

Cic - nbt - evo?

Wow - thank you, this is very useful.

I have a late 2013 car - not sure if this is NBT?
Not likely to be EVO...

I have the wide bevelled screen with the orange menus.
I also have HUD so nned to be careful.
Not technical at all and will be doing this via a BMW 'specialist' in the UK but want to be informed when i talk to him.

This thread is very useful!! Thanks again
