14 650i with 76k miles reliability?

I'm looking at a 650i with 76k miles. I'm wondering if it's a smart move or not cuz I feel like it's high miles for the n63tu but idk. What y'all think?

Maybe, maybe not. Every car is different and treated differently. Some will last, some won't. That is why the 2014 650 with 76k is so cheap...cheaper than a new civic!

Like every car, stuff will happen eventually. Either get an extended warranty (I can help you with that...though options are limited due to mileage), or take a chance. Again, price is so low that you should have some money set aside for issues. As they say, got to pay to play. BMW's cost money, either upfront brand new or used on the back end.

I got 2 mechanic shops so idk if that'll help with like maintenance and stuff. But it honestly depends if they'll budge down from 21k. They have the service records and it's all oil changes n regular maintenance. But if they don't judge down I'll just get the 550 for 23k with 59k miles from bmw. Which seems like a better option but we'll see.

What maintenance have you done since you've had it and how many miles did the car have when you got it. And also how do you drive the car. Cause I wanna give it the beans but also kinda scared.

If you can get back to the car...check the iDrive past trip destinations...perhaps the PO didn't erase/delete them before selling/trading in the car.. The high mileage could be from the previous owner using the car for long distance trips.

As mentioned in our previous PMs...I haven't had any problems and no oil consumption etc for my 2013. I did what I mentioned above...and looking at the carfax mileage and checking the iDrive...the PO had multiple saved destinations to Chicago IL, South Bend IN, Fort Wayne IN, Westfield IN, Indpls IN, Cincinnati OH, and Columbus OH. That was a good indication/explanation for the mileage....but also why the condition was really good vs the mileage.

The difference between the two cars is only $2,000. Get what you want and don't even look back. Because here's the thing, if either of those cars has a major problem, it cost you literally the same price as the car. So $2,000 is pretty irrelevant in the grand scheme of things.

As others have said, the car may or may not have major issues. But any car will have some issues. The real question is how financially equipped you are to deal with issues. People often buy expensive cars when they get cheap thinking that it's cooler to own a car that was once $100,000 than it is to own a newer Honda Civic. It is cooler, but they are so cheap because they may cost a lot to maintain. Only you can decide if an unexpected $5,000 or $10,000 repair bill will change your life in a very bad way. I would not own one of these if that was not something I could easily absorb.

I'd be suspect. A well optioned '14 650i with 65k is NADA clean trade in of $29,725. Clean retail $33,375. Something is fishy because 10k miles =/= $10k+

Not so sure about that. KBB has my fully loaded 61k mi 2014 650GC at about $27k trade in and about $31k retail. But I would still say the car he is looking at should be around $25k. I don't think he ever mentioned the asking price. Also he never said if the car was at a BMW dealer, independent dealer, or private party

I've seen some pics of the car that's being discussed...and there are some things (besides the high mileage) that may be discouraging buyers...thus the market price is dropping to get more potential buyers in the door.

I hope Momo122 doesn't mind me sharing some details discussed in a PM (my apologies if it does...but it appears the interest of the forum has been piqued...with limited follow up to the collective's assumptions & perceptions). Perhaps some of the images below will clear up some assumptions and speculations:

Some rear bumper damage and missing tow hook cover:

Although nicely appointed & other than the things pictured below...appears to be OK...but the front and rear IHKA panels have a lot of scratches & swirl marks:

I don't mind Q sliver but the car did sell and I'm kinda happy it did cause I was kinda iffy on it anyways. Back to the 550 with 59k miles! It's what I originally wanted from the beginning. Only step now is it get a loan hopefully. The 650i that is already sold was originally 25k but they lowered their price I guess. But it's sold so it doesn't matter anymore but feel free to tell me about N63tu information as needed. Thank you all!

There are plenty of 6's out there. Just because this sold, you don't have to "settle" for the 5. Again, a thousand here or there is nothing as you will spend more on other issues. Plus, if you're not happy, you didn't save a thousand, you wasted $25k (or whatever the price is).

I was actually looking at an Audi S7 from Merlex Auto Group and looking at the carfax worried me. They sell a lot of vehicles at an attractive price but their fees are $1,800. The S7 I was looking at had been taken to the be serviced multiple times within a couple months and then sold which seemed kind of suspicious. So you probably dodged a bullet with this one.
