2012 BMW 650i "customer care program"

Hi,

I just bought a 2012 BMW 650i and now that I'm doing more research I've come to understand the engines in these cars are not that reliable (mainly because of the post below this one).

Anyway the more research I did, I discovered he "customer care program"
https://f10.5post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1074012

This says that there is a "recall" (but not really a recall) on this engine and BMW will check and replace if necessary the following:

Quote:
Dealership instructions include checking the timing chain for stretching and replacing it if necessary,
replacing the fuel injectors, mass air flow sensors, crankcase vent lines, battery, engine vacuum pump
and low pressure fuel sensor.
I did not see this work having been done on the Carfax so I'm guessing Monday I should call my local BMW dealer and make sure this has all been checked?

Thanks so much.

Since the CCP would have been done at a dealer, any BMW dealer should be able to tell you if it has been done on your car. I'm not sure if there are limits on when it can be done. I'll bet that was not fun to learn after the fact. I was originally considering a 2012 when somebody else tipped me off.

So I did take delivery of the car today, luckily I bought it through Carvana and I have 7 days to decide if I want it so that should give me time to check what the BMW dealer says.

Also having owned a 2011 Camaro SS, 2015 Polaris Slingshot, 2009 H2 Hummer SUT (Which I loved), and currently own a 2015 Mercedes CLA45AMG I have to tell you this 2012 BMW 650i Convertible is just an amazing car.

Previously I lived in Colorado so I need more of an all weather vehicle but now I live in Las Vegas so I can have a convertible year round and this car is amazing. Now the question is it going to be an endless money pit of fun

It could be. Have seen owners say theirs is trouble free and some say and list all their repairs. Good luck, and get a third party warranty if possible.

2012 650

i also picked up a 2012 650 convt as a summer whip. Still have a 2016 750 and 2011 x5 that i share with my daughter during the winter months. Dealership had the full print outs of the CCP that was done on the car and the seals are covered til 2022. Ive owned 10 certified or used Bmws over the past 25 years and rarely had a serious problem with any of them. I also have a two of the best independent mechanic shops in the state ( one north and one south, i get around) who are both on speed dial. If it gets too expensive then she has to go. Like my grandaddy used to say, never have anything in your life that you are not willing to walk away from in 30 seconds flat. Just ask my ex wives. HA! enjoy the whip man.. covid is real

Yea I didn't do my homework when I got my V8 X5. Luckily it was a CPO car and they did the stem seals at around 90k miles. This was when CPO covered to 100k miles/6years. Those days are long gone. At 110k miles I was burning a quart every 300 city miles.
