Leaf blower
I am trying to find the best cordless electric leaf blower for drying my car. The first one I ordered was from EGO which had 650 CFM max, which would have been great, except it arrived from amazon sans battery and charger! Sent that back and ordered another one, also from EGO, but with only 480 CFM. I have used this on both cars and found it to be lacking in power. Although it did blow most of the water away, it seemed to struggle with the smallest droplets, which tended to dry before I could get at them with the towel. I am returning it as well, as soon as the next one arrives.
Also, I had to park in Beverly Hills for about an hour right after I washed it today and of course it was dusty. 45 seconds with the leaf blower and she looked like I had just washed her! Candidate #3 is a Greenwood brand with a whopping 730 CFM and a 170 MPH wind. I am told that CFM matters much more than MPH - with leaf blowers. Lol! So that should arrive in a week or so. Do any of y’all have experience with this? |

No experience with that, I use a Stihl petrol blower, fantastic machine, starts first pull every time.

I'd be curious how much runtime you get with the battery, but if it's just for the car and not for any serious yardwork, it should be ample.

Third one’s a charm
Bought and returned 2 leaf blowers. This third one works. It turns out that water is a bit stubborn. It needs plenty of power to be disbursed. This one does the job and it came with 2 80V batteries. Got it at Costco online.

What else did you return other than the EGO 650? I have an old B&D 1.5A 40V I am looking to improve on. If I recall from my school days it was always Amps X Volts - Watts. So I have 60 Watts and yours is 2 Ams and 80V for 160 Watts!
That would be quite an improvement. However, I am seeing a lot of advertising on MPH and CFM. It appears you did a lot of research on this - what is the critical determining number? |

In my research I learned that MPH was less important as CFM. One more helpful hint - If you get the Greenworks (730 CFM - $279.00 @ Costco online) beware of holding it close to your body as the intake will suck in the fabric of loose T-shirts, drawstrings, etc. I’ve only used it once, but am happy so far. I’ll try it again today on my other car. https://www.costco.com/CatalogSearch...ord=Jet+Blower |

My neighbors already thinks i'm crazy for washing my car every weekend at 630am (I have black sapphire and it needs a wash once a week; I live in Arizona, to avoid the 110+ heat i have to wash her that early in the morning).
I cant imagine what they will think if I use a leaf blower on my car. your guys' neighbors probably thinks youre nuts! |
