What are the chances that this is axle damage?

So, got hit while parked by a large truck. Car has been recovered so just waiting for garage to make an assessment but was just curious if the car had a high chance that the rear axle is gone or could it be any other parts that have broken which are easier to replace?

There's a lot more than axle damage. What does it matter, you have insurance don't you? And it was obviously the truck drivers fault.

Like Walt said, you probably have various bent parts - suspension arms. Only an inspection can tell.

ouch you wont know until you get it on a ramp, but i would say at least

Shaft
Lower arm
strut (maybe)
possibly where the strut sits in the cabin maybe bent

dependant on year i say that maybe written off

I'm hoping it's not axle damage and just parts which can be more easily replaced. Took me a while to find the spec i was looking for so would be sad if it was a write off.

It's with garage now and they should get back to me with estimates. Luckily the truck was fitted with a tracker and camera so insurance should not be an issue but i had to chase up the truck company as he did not stop, might not have known he caused any damage.

If i didn't have any witnesses i would have no clue who caused the damage.

Hoping it's not a write off but if it is then i'll probably have to hunt for another 6 or see what else is out there.

I can see you previously had a 640d and now a M6 GC. How does it compare to the 640d in terms of drive and handling? I do quite a few motoway miles so not sure if fuel costs would be worth it.
