I can’t find the drive/lunch post and I didn’t get any car pics so here’s the weekend rundown. More like brunch than dinner though….I’m kinda a rebel

-Nashville hot Benedict, it was hot
-macarons
-shrimp, grits, andouille etc
-blue crab Benedict on a croissant
-hush puppies.
3 different places, nice ride today to St Pete Beach. Wifey wasn’t feeling good so didn’t stay long but I had a good time. Imbibed in a few, watched some football….and gained some pounds

This is in our regular rotation. We first had it in the old town of Korčula, Croatia. The menu listed it as “couscous salad” but it is so much more. Fresh, sweet, savory and tangy. A great combination of flavors and textures.

Couscous
Parsley
Cantaloupe
Chickpeas
Onion
Tomato
Shallot (optional, I had one in the fridge)
Almonds
Feta (Croatian Sir cheese is authentic, I had feta available)
EVOO
Lemon juice
Salt
Pepper
Sumac and cumin are my additions
No olive - the missus isn’t a fan!

Tail between legs today, no pics as it was left over goulash that's been in fridge for 3 days with baked potatoes but still, it was something to eat, I don't like wastage.

My best " Get out of jail free" meal.

Story: In the late 90's, my mum served two terms as a military OR nurse during the Balkan War.

I was in my early teens and my Dad was looking after me. One of his favorite meal was pork sausage in tomato sauce.

So when I knew he would come home after a day at the Squadron, I would prepare his meal. I would even run to the PX to get sausages and a can of Campbell Cream of Tomato Soup with money from my allowance if there wasn't any at home.

But he wasn't stupid and saw right through me. " What did you do?"

I was making myself as small as possible. First I showed him my report card. All A's... Then... the note from the Principal advising him that I was expelled for a day for getting into a fight and beating-up boys.

All through this, he was eating, reading and moving his head in a sideways and serious fashion.

" Needs more pepper."

My father would have said “That’s my girl, he must have deserved it”.

When I was a kid, maybe 8, there was a bully on the block that used to pick on my younger brother who was maybe 5 at the time. He made the mistake of hitting my brother. I went to his house, rang the bell and asked his mother if Scott could come out and play. When he came to the door, I dragged him down the steps and beat the shit out of him. He never picked on my brother again.

I’m having leftover something for dinner. Long day. Left home at 6:00am and just got home from work. Not even hungry.
