Tried to code turn signals in the HUD with Carly (which I have used with great success to-date). Coding failed and then I got a few odd instrument panel malfunctions relating to the suspension. Luckily I backed up before coding and was able to restore my pre-fail code state.

Thanks for tip (reminder)! I'll eventually get around to this as well. Do you have a preferred website or source you go to for info and reference?

I know there are posts discussing coding but they are kind of scattered concerning methods and options. For those interested in coding here's what I came up with on options and how to do it.

1. You can go long route and go with an E-sys cable and laptop and code from scratch. This method has steep learning curve which takes time but is cheapest route to go and gives you most options to code. Also appears to be most likely method to brick a modual if you make a mistake since it doesn't really have any safegaurds built in other than your own double checking before coding. bmw coding.com or Google good place to start. E-sys cable will cost you from $20 and up.

2. You can download Bimmercode for BMW app for your tablet or smart phone. Requires purchase of wifi dongle. Somewhat lmited as to what you can code compared to E-sys but much safer and least likely to brick a module. Can't do any diagnostics. Dongle and app will cost you around $60.

3. Download the Carly for BMW app. Somewhat lmited as to what you can code compared to E-sys but looks to be more versitile than bimmercode app. Requires purchase of Bluetooth dongle and upgrade purchase of Pro version to unlock most of the available coding. There are a couple more in app purchases such as Battery registration, Service reset and DVD in motion. Includes Exx model coding as well. This app also includes diagnostics, exhaust valve open and used car check. Cost for Pro version app, extra in app purchases and BT dongle can set you back as much as $154 for everything. $122 for Pro, dongle and just coding.

4. Contact Bimmer-tech and they can do it remotely by either usb stick or cable and laptop. Depending on what you want coded could be as much as $300 including cable.

5. Find someone local that can do it. I've see prices from $40 to $80 for such services.

Note: Your coding could be wiped if you take to BMW for service - but depends on type of service and if they need to update your system. If so then Option 1 thru 3 you can repeat and do yourself. But with options 4 and 5 you would probably incur additional expense.

Think I'll go with Option 3 - Carly app as it includes coding not only for my F13 and F82 but my E63 as well. Battery on the E63 needs to be replaced soon and battery reset option sounds like a good way to go. Option 1 from scratch - looks to be too time consuming.

Feel free to include additional methods and options if anyone has any.
