Indicators in HUD

Evening All,

Just wondering if anyone has successfully coded indicators to display in the heads up display?

I saw a YouTube video ealier and this was coded onto an M6 GC using Carly. I was wondering if it was possible to do via BimmerCode.

I have checked (as I started second guessing myself) and as standrsd, don't have it displaying on the HUD in the 640d. I assume if it can be done in the M6 HUD then we should be able to do it in non M car HUDs.

I haven't got my V Gate dongle with me so unable to check until mid week.

Cheers

You can't on models with the full digital cluster (my 650 and I'm guessing yours). Only older models/m6 with actual needles can code in turn signals in hud.

Thanks for your reply.

Just watched the video again - that car has the 'needle' dials.

Works using bimmercode on my F06 M6 mate. It's a pre LCI; YMMV with other models though

As said above, it can be coded as long as you don't have the digital dials (6wb).

I've got it coded on mine and thought it would be way more useful than it is. In all honesty I notice it about 1 in a 100. It's biggest use is to help with cancelling the indicators when you've hard pressed the stalk and spend the next 500 meters trying to get the damn thing to cancel.

I'd trade the ability for it to be in the HUD for a 6wb cluster.

I would think the indicators in the HUD would be a distracting stimulus. As only you put the signal on, do you really need to see it flashing in your driving field of vision to inform that it is on. The only thing I want to see in color or flashing up there is a true warning while piloting the vehicle.

In my experience...having the turn indicators appear in the HUD has been helpful with the explosion of “round-a-bouts” (in the last 10 years) where I live. I’m a “signaler” in that I indicate which direction I’m going when entering and exiting one of these traffic “obstacles”...and depending on the round-a-bout’s design...sometimes the road is angled where if you start your turn indicator too soon...it will be canceled by the curve in the approach to entering the circle. If the circle is busy...you’re watching for other cars that may not stop or try to jump into the circle especially the ones that have multiple lanes (within the circle). Having the turn indicators in the HUD is helpful in not having to look further down at the instrument cluster to see if the indicator got cancelled...while also being able to keep the merging traffic in your vision.

Its also helpful for when you thought you used the quick 3 flash to change lanes...but you actually initiated the continuous flash...so instead of looking like a retired Floridian driver with their turn indicator still flashing 10 miles from when they initiated them...you can see that your turn indicator is still on in the HUD.

Just some example of a positive reason for turn indicators in the HUD.

I have them coded in my hud and find them most useful especially when driving with the roof down and/or load music. As said above, you think you used quick indicators but didn't and can't hear the indicator clicks so it's a welcome visual reminder.

Has anyone coded the gears in the HUD. I got used to that in my M4/M6 and I like to shift manually a lot
