Air Filter Change after 36,000 miles how to

Despite a claim of 60,000 miles for the Air Filter, I am more comfortable doing this at 30,000 miles. Very easy even for novices.

1. Remove engine cover (no screws, pops off).

2. Remove 7 screws (uses 20mm torx bit/screwdriver)

3. Loosen Hose Clamp (flathead screwdsriver)

4. Lift up cover (does not have to come all the way off)

5. Remove old filter and install new filter.

I sourced mine here: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

6. Tighten screws and hose clamp, put cover back on, and done

Here is the original and the new filter side by side:

At 30k yours doesn’t appear to be that dirty, I’ve typically put them in between 15-20k.

What did you do with the charcoal filters on top of those? Leave as-is or remove?

Wondering if I am losing any power keeping these...

Yes you do. Remove them. All us 'tune' guys toss them.

Hmmmm, mine were missing. I don't show an air filter replacement in either the car fax report or the dealer printout. These are a California requirement.
