M6 OEM Trunk Items

M6 owners - I think I may be missing a few items from my trunk.

1 - There's a hatch for a first aid kit, but there's nothing inside - anyone have any pics of such a kit if it's included from new?

2 - I found a tool pouch with 2 tools, tire tool and a flathead. Anything missing
from this and what is the oem location for this kit?

3 - Looks like I have a tire refill canister but no compressor. Is that all that's missing from the below kit?

Thanks all!

I had no first aid kit in my car. 2019 M6GC, purchased new from dealer.
Indeed you are missing your compressor. The tools are the same as mine, and OEM location is on top of compressor.

Regarding the tools there is an item you MUST have.
Note the tools in the Real.oem pic and note grayed out item (4). That is the transmission unlock tool. This tool does NOT work on the M6. It does fit my 750 and my X5’s. The M6 needs only a long 10mm Allen/hex key. Vital to have in car. If you have no power you will not be able to get into neutral so you can be flatbedded. My hex keys in my toolbox have handles and were to large. Bought a long 10mm on Amazon for 6 dollars to keep in the bag.

Thanks Danny! Interesting - looks like the compressor must've been misplaced. Good to know I'm only missing the one oem item, no rush to replace though as I have runflats which the compressor can't be used for anyway.

The first aid kit is supplied in jurisdictions that require it. If you get European delivery or live in Europe then the first aid kit and a reflective triangle are included. The US does not require these items and BMW chooses not to supply them here. Pretty lame, if you ask me.

I saw another post where someone with an LCI M6 looked under their cupholder and didn't have the transmission unlock slider. I checked my LCI M6 this morning and it doesn't either, so it appears they've done away with this on later cars.

Oh well, at least I have a spare 10mm hex key if I ever need it for something else now!

Are you positive.
When I inspected under the cup holder, my lever for the transmission was tightly tucked under some rubber like lining material. I actually had to dig the liner off just to see the entry point for the hex key.

Yes, just solid plastic at the bottom when you remove that piece shown in the drawing. To see any further below I'd have to remove the center console.

Then a difference there is.
Surprised they would have no reasonable unlocking method for someone stuck on the side of the road with a complete unresolvable power failure.

My recent thread discussed this. When I remove the plastic cup holder insert in the center console, there is nothing there except the carpet. The park position has to be done from under the car. Pretty ridiculous IMO

In your image, there is no way that aft oriented plastic floor releases in order to be removed ? The lever for the hex key orients from the aft end cavity.

I still can’t believe they wouldn’t have engineered a release for a disabled car stuck on the road.

It's all one large plastic piece that looks to go under the whole CF console . You could potentially drill a hole there lol

Have you used your VIN on the newtis site to see if there is a different avenue to the transmission unlocking on the workshop manual there...

Already looked on TIS. Other method is under the car. Remove under body protection and move lever upwards.

Wow...

My Son had an issue in the 750 that needed unlocking. Visited northern Maine and had car parked outside. Temps were in the low negatives at night. He ended up having a comfort access drain that killed the battery. He got all sorts of crazy warnings and a no start condition. Our tools were in the garage back home so he couldn’t diagnose and had to get it flatbedded. He had the orange key to unlock. There is no way to get the underpanel off without raising the car, and in a freezing snow filled street that would not happen.

Wow...

It's crazy, but seemingly on the newer ones (so I'm guessing LCI models here), you're reliant on the electronics being able to get the car into neutral. I saw another post where a tow truck guy had to use a booster pack on the jump start points to get the computer to be happy enough to get it into neutral before getting it on the truck.

If you have the auto tranny, but your build date is after the little orange tool was discontinued...if you can supply enough power if you're in a no start situation...and you can get a power pack on the engine bay terminals...there is an "electrical" way to get the car into neutral.

This should work for the 5/6/7 series (f10/f11/f06/f12/f13/f01/f02) with automatic transmissions. Not sure if this will work with the M6 with DCT.

Below are visual and textual instructions:

Think her name is Daynia. Hopefully Qsilver7 can check RealOEM or his usual service manual sources
