Motorcycle helmet 4 eyeglass wearer

Interested to know what motorcycle helmets you like if you are wearing eyeglasses.

After researching I'd gotten pretty familiar with the helmets designed with space for eyeglass temples and interior flip-down sun visors. And familiar with head shape.

Like to know what helmets you all like.

Shoei GT Air has always worked for me

my new shoei RF1400 works as well

I have some old Oakleys that are on the smaller size - I replaced the lens for $60, because they work so well under a helmet

so - it is also about the sunglass size, not just the helmet

Have always had a Shoei head. Have tried on hundreds of other helmets that I loved designs on, never found another that worked. Think my old car helmet that my buddy painted for me was a G-Force?

Whatever you buy, make sure that it is Snell certified. Cheap helmets belong on cheap heads.....

Arai Signet,Shoei RF and HJC RPHA all worked great with the Shoei being a bit less eyeglass-friendly than the others depending on which particular frames I was wearing that day.

Best to go to a dealer and try on a bunch of different lids with the eyeglasses you intend to ride with on;then you can order online or whatever once you find the best fit

Good helmets usually have it accounted for. SHOEI, AGV, ARAI.

Id second the GT Air, its going to have a bit more space than say something like the RF because those are race helmets that really focus on a smaller shell so there just isnt as much room to work with.

Same. I really like AGVs design and would like to get more tricolori paint schemes since all my bikes are Italian but nothing has ever felt as comfortable on my head as Shoeis.

I replaced an old Aria with a GT Air when I got back into bikes.

I like the flip down sun visor as you don't have to carry regular and sun glasses.

Plus they're designed for speakers and bluetooth.

I've since moved the Shoei. I have an RF-1200 and a X-Fourteen. Like the fact both helmets can use the same visors. But what I like a lot is the Transitions visor. I have that installed on the RF-1200 that I use for street riding. If you're not familiar with the Transitions visor, it's the same as the Transitions lenses used in eyeglasses. It'll darken when exposed to UV and then go clear when it gets dark out. The X-Fourteen is my track only helmet. Weird thing about these Shoei helmets is that I'm a size medium but the RF-1200 fits so much tighter than the X-Fourteen on my head.

I used to wear standard issue wylieyX shades under an HJC helmet for years with no discomfort.

Picked up a Bell with transition lens back in 2017 and simply can't move on from that convenience!

Been eyeing a Shoei X14 with the optional transition lens for a couple years now, but the price tag has been a deterrent. I had hoped they would become more affordable over the years...

I've used Nolan flip-ups for 25-years. They are not Snell-certified because Snell don't have a flip-up standard. Mine is imported from Italy and has all Euro and Canadian certification—but not even DOT. I just never could stand pulling off my Shoei and ripping the glasses from my face by mistake. I started with BMW system helmets (made by Schuberth) but they became outrageously expensive after my second one. One caution is they run small so best to find somewhere you can actually try them on. They do not sell the version that I have (N100-5 Plus) in the USA, but the non-Plus is here. I wear a Bell 7-5/8, an extra-large in a Shoei, but a XXL in the Nolan. Years ago I had to import a case (12) of them just to get my XXL which no one in the USA carried. Sold the extras instantaneously, most of them to the local BMW dealer.

I feel fortunate in getting both of my Shoei's from an online retailer. I got my X-Fourteen for $505 three years ago. It's well over $700 now. Unfortunately, they're no longer a Shoei dealer so no more deals.

FYI for those mess around with flip-ups, the photochromic advisors are awesome. They're expensive but once I got one I bought them for every helmet I have.

Since my bikes are all sport bike so I tend to go with the more aggressive helmet design that doesn't have room for an extra visor inside.

Also pin lock for defogging is a game changer

Haven't found any other helmet other than the X14 that makes we want to upgrade.

Wish I had spotted that model around the time you did, I wouldn't have hesitated for the price you mentioned

When I still had my Kawasaki Versys 650, I was wearing a Bell Riot helmet - an open-faced, old-school job with riot helmet-style face shield. Worked well with my glasses and wasn't some Chinese junky stuff.

My Nolan has all those. In fact I believe Nolan was the first manufacturer to offer the Pinlock anti-fog layer. Hard to beat for features or price. From $300 and up.

I'm rocking some HD Easy Rider knockoff, open face. Glasses aren't an issue, but on my cruiser neither is extreme acceleration

Shoei was the only full I could get to fit my melon. I seem to have a larger circumference head, even though clean shaven. Glasses always had to be LO-FO with that

I basically tell everyone who doesnt live in SoCal/FL if you want to stretch the season get the pinlock and plug-in heated gear. Stop faffing about with other band aid solutions and just get it over with. And everyone who does is like "how did I do without so long?!?!?!"

I know its expensive but didn't you just buy a $14k toy? I always say budget at least $2k in starter gear. Jacket for every season, good gloves, leather pants if you want to actually go fast, good boots, etc.

The gear makes the man... And while I have *knocks on wood* yet to have an off on the track I have SEEN some shit; but dudes wearing torque control boots, a space suit and quality helmet leave with a bike in bits and nothing else but a sprained ankle.
