Not the M6 coupe yet though on UK, or in NZ. It won't be long though.

I don't understand why BMW is killing 6 er this way...
That 6 er gran turismo is the ugliest 6 er ever made while the F1x 6er is the most beautiful 6 er ever made

They’re not killing it. They’re just resetting their branding. Much like introducing the 4 series it makes sense to have 6 as the grand coupe version of the 5. It then positions the 8 series at the top of the tree. Make no mistake the new M8 is really the new M6.

Well they could introduce the new 6 er with smaller size than current 6 er as 911 fighter ... 8 series is even bigger than F1x 6 series and noway it can beat 911 or R8 or AMG GTS... We really expected something ftom to compete with those cars... Im sure the new Z4 will not be even close to that category ...

They already make a smaller 6 series. It’s called the 4 series. My car is parked next to an M4 as I type and it’s not that much smaller than my M6. So there’s no room for a smaller coupe. They already have the M2. For those looking for something smaller they have the Z4. If they were to compete with the 911 market it would make more sense to re-introduce a Z Coupe based on the new Z4. Than have a small 6 series that is then out of sync with the rest of their model numbering. The 8 series may be bigger but it won’t be that much bigger and cars do tend to grow with each generation anyway. Just look an E46 3 series vs an F30.

They would split the Z into two models I think, keep the Z4 size as it is for the new model that is coming very soon and only with an inline 6, basically a 2 door M2/M4 car. Then have a Z6 or Z8 with a V8 and still only 2 seats to be an AMG GT or 911 fighter.

Then you keep the 4 seater coupe line up as it is, although we all know the new M8 is just a rebadged new gen M6 anyway.

I wonder if this will make our cars go up, not even being biased but the m6 is widely regarded as a beautiful car that's quite loved so you would think if it's in limeted numbers as it is an no longer in production that it should appreciate.

Any notion that these cars will somehow start to appreciate. By the time these cars bottom out the 8 series and M8 will have been around for a while which will make the M6 seem pretty dated by that point. It's a nice car but it's not a Z1 or a 1M. It's simply not unique enough.

E92 M3's didn't start going up in value just because BMW changed the model to M4 and the same will be true of the M6 when then M8 comes out.

There is no meaningful appreciation in this car's future.

Yes but the m3 as a model still exists and is in production where as the m6 will no longer exist so you can't use that as a comparison..the m8 will also be a totally different larger vehicle I assume based on the f90 m5.

Also I'm not aware how many m6's there are in the uk but to my knowledge I believe there are only 32 m6 competition packs in the uk?, which is pretty rare by anyone's standard.

I Bought an Impreza in 2007 for £9000.. It's currently now worth £25,000+ and still sitting in my garage (it was bought new for 32k in 2001), not that I kept it for the purpose of appreciation but if I had listened to the many on my forum at the time who were ready to bet there life it would never increase in value when I said don't be surprised if it does and they all turned out to be wrong in the end so never say never, if a car is a good car and it's rare then as it gets older it will appreciate hence why a series 1 escort rs turbo or Sierra cosworth is worth some proper money knowing full well that a new focus rs makes them both look very dated and is the much better, faster, more modern, more economical car yet it makes no difference. Appreciation never makes sense but if it's good, rare an limeted in numbers then it has a very good chance long down the line.

To the person reading this post in 15 years time let me know how it's going lol

If you have an M6 in 20 years with under 5,000miles I'm sure it will be worth money, but it won't be worth more than what it was new. They simply made too many of them for it to be a collectible car. The M6 competition model with low miles in two decades will be worth good money I have no doubt.

The M3 coupe does not exist and is no longer in production. It’s called the M4. The M8 will be to the M6 what the M4 is to the E92 M3 Coupe. The size differences between the 8 series and 6 series are not really any different to how cars are growing in size with each generation in general. So it is comparable. The M8 is just the next gen M6. It may be based on the 7 series platform but that is only around 330mm longer and 40mm wider than the new 5 series so in reality the size difference between 6 and 8 will be negligible.

In donkeys years time the M6 may well be worth a bit more than the bottom end of its depreciation curve but it’s not going to appreciate in value from the current numbers or in any way that will benefit current owners.
