Will i regret buying an M6?

Long story short i've had the M6 on my radar for a while now but haven't even driven one.. Prices are going down so im considering jumping on the market

Past cars:
E46 M3's
F82 M4 (6MT w/ CCB's, FBO, JB4)
C6 Z06 (heads, cam etc. 600+hp) - current car

Anyone have experience going from nimble coupes to the (i assume) more boat-like M6?
Curious to know about general reliability, performance and daily driver characteristics

My plan will be to do full bolt ons (downpipes, intake/charge pipes, JB4 etc.) how much do those DCT clutches take?

She's big and heavy, but she ain't no boat. 1:48 laps at Barber. I have Active Autowerke tune, catless DPs, exhaust, Dinan Camber arms and sway bars. Grinning every time I drive her.

Yeah, I would say she is no boat either. Mine stock-just competition package but intend to install a tune later.
Great low end torque around town, very solid suspension which can be adjusted to rattle your teeth.
Get a low mileage with warranty, mod to your requirements and you'll be happy-lets us know!

I think u will regret. I want to back more small size car like boxster. But for dd and familywise it is perfect

Depends what you want out of a car. For an all out high performance ALL ROUNDER, its really tough to beat the m6 comp in it's coupe form.

Drive cross country in supreme luxury? Check
Do ocassional trackdays and have a blast? Check
Twisty roads? No problem.

Can a boxter spyder be more nimble? Of course, but you'd need back surgery if you attempted to do a cross country in a boxter.

Only comparable car I can think of is a Porsche 911 Turbo. But you're paying way more for it.

Bottom line, if you want a high performance vehicle that can easily daily drive, highway cruise, do trackdays and twisties, M6, ESPECIALLY at it's current value is an unbelievable deal.

And: Stock clutch is good for 680BHP at crank. YMMV

Whats the deal with oil consumption? is this across the board on all M6's or a select few?

I've done 34,000km in mine. I got it at 7,000km so it is now at 41,000km. There is a service at 1200km, then one at 15,000km, the next one is at 45,000km!

I don't agree with 30k oil changes but servicing is free here plus it is under warranty as well with cheap extension options so I guess it doesn't matter.

I've had it prompt for needing oil at about 35,000km, I put in 1 litre and it hasn't prompted since. As such mine definitely doesn't burn much oil at all!

I believe it's only a minority of engines which burn what I consider to be excessive amounts of oil. BMW, however, appears to think it's normal to have to top up several times between oil changes. Bought my 2014 M6 secondhand at 9k miles and it now has 31k on the clock. I change my oil and filter after approximately 8k miles, not the 15k that BMW recommends. I have never needed to top up at all between changes.

It's an amazing car and soooo much fun. I use mine for weekend/free time driving and not a daily. I like to get in my daily and just go with no warm up, parking concerns etc. When I do drive with the top down and the V10 with the full Dinan exhaust and air intakes it sounds like no other. I see where the name Beast comes from. So I would recommend driving this car for fun if you can and not for a daily.

I purchsed 3rd company warranty I paid 5k for 5 years or 60000 miles from purchsed date. It works pretty nice same as bmw warranty. Ive been used 2-3 times fix by warranty It works excat same as bmws but it has 100 deductible every single issue.

I bought that warranty at bmw dealers. And it covers everything include electric its like bumper to bumper warranty. But it has 100 deductible. It will expire at 2022 or 91000miles. It is worth.

It was out of warranty. They offer me extended warranty. It was 7500 warranty but dropped down to 5k.

I do not regret.... although mine is not a daily. I'm very religious about slow warm ups and cool downs. In between, let it rail. Mine is tuned to 700/685t It's big... and not as nimble, but totally makes up for it in other areas. I've had lots of nimble cars before this and needed something exactly like this.

I've had to top off my oil only twice in 18 months and 10k miles (and only 1/3q each time). I let it rip nearly every day I drive it.

What is a cool down? I do the warm up certainly, but trying to preserve this!
