9 liters or 9.5 quarts ,I have a set of Race ramps ,I warm the engine up bit pull it up on the ramps ,pull the drain plug out let it drain while you take the filter out ,dont rush the drain plug back in, let it drain for a good 30 mins it removes a lot of left over oil in the cooler

With filter is 8.50 L (8.98 qts)
Without filter 8.00 L (8.45 qts) I think that 9.5 by Whipple is just a typo. I usually put in 8 liters and check the level, if low, I add as necessary. Depending on how much oil you've actually drained out, there is bound to be some residual oil left, hence why I start with 8. |

9.5qts. I change the oil every 5K on my M6 and X5M and it’s been the same on both. I think it just comes down to how long you wait for the oil to drain out from the pan and from the filter housing.
