Just got a DMS remap. And it's the bananas! Pics attached.

For the few people considering a map I would highly highly recommend DMS Automotive. They done a great job on my 640d GC. The pull from 40-130 is seamless and pulls so hard. If anyone has any questions fire away.

12bhp more than me, torque looks about the same 545ftlb ish ?

very respectable gains for a simple remap with no extra / replacement parts

Welcome to the DMS club.. it's hard not to love the grunt every time you floor it. With everything in sport mode it feels even quicker! Launch control is fun.. I reckon 0-60 in 4.6 ish

I know DMS says once the car beds in with remap it'll get even quicker.

What's your current mileage? I've done ~86k in my 640d so far and I'm in two minds about getting it remapped - I'm afraid of breaking it! I spend a lot of time overtaking trucks and tractors on country roads. Do you think the turbo will cope with all the added strain?

Wow you must have felt the loss in power however it feels nice having a big car that can still move!

Yeah same I think performance wise I'm done.

Subtle mods next: spacers springs dechrome side light and potentially powder coat the wheels and calipers.

I think after that I'm done.

Feels great. I do a lot of motorway so merging/overtakeing has never been so fun?

I feel it's still not as responsive but I think a bit of coding would help.

It does feel a lot quicker!
How long do you reckon until it's beds in?
I do need to change these RFT though a lot of slip.

I'm not a pro in regards to strain on the turbo but you have to remember the engine is built like a tank so I don't see why not. If you do a lot of that I would highly recommend a map for sure!

I noticed within 500-1000 miles it got a little quicker. Engine never seems fazed whenever it's driven hard. Had the remap on since about 900 miles with the odo now reading 33000, feels stronger now than it ever did.

With mine from new I've had a dip in response at 2000 revs when I'm in 7th or 8th gear and it was like really bad lag, since the remap it's better but still there. I even tried a normal unmapped 640d and it was exactly the same.

Because mine's a contract car I've had to keep the RF's, I expected the rears to wear out quicker with more power but changed them at 16,000 with the fronts changed at 28,000. It's such a shame in the UK that we didn't get the Xdrive choice as these 6ers would be even quicker and chances are I would've kept the car after the contract ends.

That's really interesting. And totally agree with you there if we had the xdrive that would be an absolute game changer.

Slightly off topic but I'm due a service in around 1,000 miles did it wipe the map off when you service it?

I get so much tyre squeel when accelerating with these RFT I can't wait to get them changed!

Depends what they do in the service, if its just an oil change etc then it wouldn't be wiped. It's when they have to update the car with software that they tend to wipe it, but saying that when that happened on my last 640 DMS just simply came out and put it back on for free! Considering i live in Norwich and they were in Southampton i was pretty impressed.

They've charged me £900 inc vat each time which i think for the performance and back up is cheap. If you got a group of you to go to DMS I'm sure they'd do an even better deal.

Yeah definitely worth the money. I need to check what service I need. Has anyone taken a loan car from BMW and it ever been anything saucy? They gave my friend a m140 once and I was shocked.

True but personally given the 3 year free call out and the customer service I think it's worth it for sure

Thread Revival!

I picked up a 2016 640d GC last weekend. Currently on 22,500 miles and looking to get it remapped by DMS. Can I ask what the mileage is on your car now? You said you've had it mapped for over 32,000 miles with no issues which is very reassuring. Just wanted to know how you're getting on with it over a year later from writing your post.

DMS seem to be the go to people from what I've read. Interested to hear the thoughts from others too.

Cheers

Unicorn developments in Stockport have a very good reputation on these. They did a fantastic job on my v6 supercharged S4
