Carbon Ceramic Brakes
Hi all wise ones! I'm 'considering' moving up to an M6. It's a beautiful blue, with white/grey interior. Looks lovely and I'm pretty excited! I have a question about the CCBs fitted to the car though. I've done a little research and I think they are ok, but I thought I'd show photos of the 'wear dots' on each rotor. I initially thought they were shot, but I think they are ok now. The seller/dealer assures me they are fine, but I know you folks on here are the true experts so... The car has done about 45K miles. If I went for it, it would be going straight to a specialist I know for a thorough check over regardless.
Additionally, the car has apparently 'white dials' at night, which I'm sure must have been coded in? Although fully digital gauges are the norm now (my current 640d has the 6WB), one of the things I'm dead chuffed about is the older gauge cluster (don't laugh!). Should it be orange at night though? Or is the 'white dials at night' an M6 thing? I've added some pics of the wear dots, and I'd really appreciate any input. Also, I wish everyone a Merry Christmas and all the best for the new year :-) |

Red/orange lighting, which really irked me 10 years ago, is done to protect your night vision. There’s no way the car was built with a “white lights at night” interior setup.

You mean you don't like it when it switches to orange when it gets dark? I kinda like the orange dials and interior. If it's not standard, do you think it's most likley been coded that way?

Picked up the M6 today. My dials stay white even at night with the headlights on. Everything is dimmable by the dashboard light dimmer though. The rest of the interior lighting is orange of course. I even checked the coding:
KOMBI-->3007 KI_Dimmung, 24-->DIM_NACHT_EIN-->Werte=0A (as it should be) I thought the dials went orange at night... Is this an 'M6' thing? |

I learned to embrace the orange color once I learned the reasoning behind it. Does changing your drive mode setting modify gauge cluster appearance? |
