Bought an M6 Gran Coupe on a whim
Well kinda I always wanted one. I have had several BMWs over the years, the current stable consists of an E93 M3 that I euro delivered, an E30 325is that I completely refurbished and put in S54 in it, a 2022 X7 M50 (wifes car) and my current daily a 2001 740i (E38).
I actually wanted one back in the day. I was looking at a 2018 M6 Gran Coupe back at the beginning of 2019 as a left over, my dealer at the time talked me into a 2019 750i which was a G platform, had way better tech, wasnt as fast but was comfortable and with a new family it was bigger. At the time I thought to myself that was the sensible solution and the deal he gave me on it was incredible. Fast-forward, covid happened, we moved 2 miles from the office (when we actually went in) so there was no long drives and we really didnt need the 750 and the X5 we had at the time. I traded the 750 and a premium due to the cost of used cars in 2021 and ordered an X7 for my wife. Sold the X5 as well, then just kept my E38 for daily and the M3 for fun. But everytime I saw the M6 on the road (and its rare I see a GC) I am like man I should have bought that one back in 2019. Couple that with as much as I LOVE my e38 and I do, its getting old and I like to keep cars in top shape so I fix every little thing and with two kids I kind of just want something newer. Well, I found a the car I was thinking about purchasing in 2019 and I bought it! 2018 M6 GC San Marino Blue and Shakir Orange (SUPERMAN!). I has under 15,000 miles on it. The only thing that would make it better is if it was a competition package car and had the B&O, I can live with that because it's still basically a new car, and its the color I wanted. Already purchased I pick up tomorrow, its just getting cleaned up. Mods I already purchased that are on the way. Carbon Fiber interior trim to replace the wood (will be forsale) BMW Performance black kidney grills BMW Carbon fiber trunk spoiler Avant Garde M580R in graphite for my winter wheels. I want to do many more things to it but those are the ones I already purchased. I will update the thread as I added to the list.

I truly understand some of your sentiments. I held onto my 1997 e38 740iL until 2018 when I purchased my first f06 650ix GC. There hadn’t been another BMW that excited my eyeballs until the F chassis six series came along so I held on to what I knew and what I loved to drive. Then when the GC hit the market in 2013…it was love at first sight…I was turnt-out. Unfortunately the same scenario has come back…there is absolutely nothing in the new BMW line-up that moves me or would make me want to get rid of my f06 (nor my f15 X5)…so I guess I’ll have to nurse them along as long as I can.

I always thought the Gran Coupe was a spiritual successor to the E38, closer in size, and not as bloated as the new 7s, although the 650 is probably closer because it rides better than the M, but the GC is one of the only cars in recent history from BMW save the i8 that looks amazing from every angle, and I am not against the new cars, I test drove an i4 M50 extensively, but I could get over how much more passion I had around the M6. Anyway excited to start the journey!

Congratulations! What a find. Yes, it is a beautiful car. And yes, I fell in love as soon as the GC debuted in C/D July 2011 (?). Had the pleasure of test driving it on the Autobahn in Germany. it remained my dream until last summer. Is an absolute pleasure to drive. You will enjoy every mile. I sincerely hope you have some curvy back roads nearby.

A few more pics I took today when I got home. Love this thing! My 4yo son loves it as well. We went to a party today and kept grabbing people because he wanted to show them his new car lol.
It was weird, the HUD was not working and it was grayed out in the menu. Then I deleted the profile of the previous owner and it came back.

You're a lot younger than I would have guessed.
Welcome to the madness. Beautiful, low mile, M you've got there.

We pulled up to a neighbor yesterday and I rolled down the window to say hi and the first thing he said was "Do you see the new blue car, I love it!" lol

I had a 2016 640xi in the same color combo. This brought back memories...

Its pretty much a new car not even a scratch on it, the PO put PPF on the front. I almost bought my M3 in Interlagos blue, always loved that color. San Marino is close a little brighter but the same look.

CMC always has high list prices (and pays way under value for trades). But they have a clientele that doesn't mind overpaying so the get away with the high prices and high deltas. If a non-exotic/non-1-of-1 has been sitting for 3 months+, then they start negotiating. But their inventory is awesome and in general, the cars they are in great condition.
