640D coolant low

Has anyone noticed coolant consumption on their 640d? I've had the edge recall done which happened to coincide with the last time I had low coolant. I'm wondering if the egr is playing up again. No signs of issues around the engine, oil is as normal, no leaks.

Hi elvisdog, just bought mine and a week later it needed around a litre of water, it came serviced so I didn't check the levels on purchase and am now wondering if coolant usage is normal on these? Anyone else having this problem? TIA

Have you had botg EGR recalls done? Some cars have x2 recalls (one for the cooler & one for valve from memory)

I was using a small amount of coolant until I had teh EGR recall done about 4 weeks ago. Since then I have lost zero coolant

I've had one of the recalls done, I thought it was the egr. Had a similar issue when the egr recall came through. Idrive came up with warning coolant was low. After the egr recall though I had no issues. I'm just wondering if the recall had put a similarly bad product on?

Surprises me how low the coolant had to be to trigger a warning. Mine was well below the minimum line in the expansion tank.

It's due a service next month so will give them a call and get them to check recalls on the car.

it's the egr cooler which the recall is for..mine had one in 2015 and another one in march,,it is now an upgraded part,,2015 one was like for like
