It’s an alright spot to drive to in a day, not necessarily somewhere you want to spend a lot of time at. Maybe one night max.

Yeah man, that is every weekend, especially during the warmer months where the tourist start to flow in. Usually need to book weeks in advance unless you know people in the restaurant business. Sometimes it is best to just head out to dinner with the expectations of an hour or so wait, and just pop into a near by bar for a drink or so - best to be flexible to an extent.

I grew up about 2.5 hours north of AC and could fly to Vegas and stay for 4 days for less than going to AC for a weekend. Then let alone you walk 2 streets off the strip and you take your life in your own hands

not sure some of these recommendations fit into a definition that includes "low-key"...key west? seriously?!?! it's a sh!tshow (in a fun, college party way) and the beaches are actually terrible.

i'd check out clearwater beach (near tampa), panama city or destin beach (FL panhandle), or topsail beach, NC (instead of outer banks which are completely packed during the summer resulting in terrible traffic on and off the island unless you go midweek).

Speaking of Jerome, AZ; big fan of the band Tool. MJK has the winery there, Caduceus Cellars/Merkin Vineyards (if you don't know what a merkin is, look it up) along with his wifes record store, The Puscifer (pronounced pussy fur) Store, along with their food trucks, produce stand and BJJ academy; they have pretty much taken over the town.

The girlfriend (fuck it, I'll try it out....bae.....nope, still hate it) and I have talked about making a trip there.

Where?

I spent quite a bit of time in Toms River in my late teens-early 20s.

If you aren't stuck on ocean, Michigan has some fantastic beaches, and lots of them are well under the 'party people' radar so not mobbed or stupid. Easy to find rental cottages with private beach for reasonable money.

I was in Cranford/Westfield about 40 miles north of Toms River. My grandparents had a place on the bay in Toms River behind Stewarts Rootbeer on Hwy 37 before the bridges into Seaside Heights.
The house was wiped out in Hurricane Sandy. Sad b/c they had flood insurance on it for 27 years and took it off 3 years before Sandy b/c it was "too expensive"
They could have sold the house and property for an easy $600k b/c it was the corner lot on the bay. I think they ended up with $125k as the house was a total loss.

So sorry to hear that.
I remember exactly where that was. We used to water ski in Barnnegate (sp?) Bay and go to Oceanside to chill on the weekends.

The best part of living there was access to all of the great cities on the east coast in very easy driving range.

I miss that part of the country quite a bit!

@chassis upstatedoc

No finals!! Just been taking some time away from the phone getting active this summer.

If I'm going to go no beach I would love Michigan per a recommendation I've seen in here. (Grew up in Auburn Hills area so i'm aware of the great landscape outside the city)

As weird as it sounds, I found a hot springs area in Oregon and I'm starting to really like Oregon as a destination choice! I wouldn't mind the weather because it would be a nice change from AZ. Where it'll be 120 degrees for the next 3-4 months.

A few other destinations I'm liking are Colorado and Seattle.

Because of all the Jersey recommendations in here I consulted with some friends from Jersey. Half said "come here we have great spots!" and the other half said "are you sure??" hahah.

Either way, Since I am so YOUNG and FINANCIALLY RESPONSIBLE, I had my whole vacation fund in various crypto's, and if any of you are keeping up with that -then a wise choice would be to wait out this storm before pulling and taking vacation. Hoping for some luck soon 😂.

Bilox Mississippi is damn hard to beat. And for peeps that are car nuts there is no better place to be the first week of October! For the cruisin the coast event, if you don’t know about it google it.

I read this and thought Biloxi, MS, he can't be serious. Crusin the Coast is a really cool event and I would highly recommend that for car lovers. Other than that, the water is horrible unless you got out on a boat a few miles. I've included the link, just because.
