Most of the 18” & 19” wheels don’t look as sexy…but the added sidewall height does make the ride more compliant.
When I swap on my 18” winter setup from the 20” summer setup…the ride is a lot smoother/softer/compliant. But the car looks like it’s wearing Crocs instead of 3” spiked high heels. You can play around with finding a 20 tire with a slightly higher sidewall that won’t rub against that suspensions arm…but you won’t be gaining much “cushion” which is what it sounds like what you really want. If that’s the case…look for a 19” wheel that you like and go with the recommended 19” tire sizes listed in the owners manual.

thaks for the reply.I live in ny pothole s all over the place thank god for the last 5years tire and rims were covered under warranty needless to say it over last week i was able to get another 2 brand new rims and tires a 2500 hundred dollar value which brought my 5year total between many tires and aleast 10 rims to$26000 dollars half of what i paid for the car. I never liked hitting those potholes with the low profile thats why im changing since there is no more free ride. i cant wait to change the tires and sell the ones i have

I don’t think your issue is the low profile tire as much as run flats.
My 640i GC completely transformed after replacing 20” with non-run flats. |

I run 275/40-20 rear and 245/40-20 front. Better rim protection and a smoother ride, plus fills in tire gaps.

Ditch the run flats. A pair of Michelin pilot sport 4s will transform your ride completely.
I have stock 19” 353’s powder coated in black running the Pilot sports. What a transformation……. Especially coming from. NY driver |

What brand/type of tires are you running? My 2017 650i GC has 20 inch 373M wheels. I am considering moving up to those tire sizes for the same reasons that you stated. Thanks.
