Folding Top Cover damaged/stained

My Folding Top Cover has a white stain from where the top meets the cover, presumably from sitting outside with the top up in the hot sun.

Has anyone repaired this, looks terrible when top down. Can it be resprayed. It feels like vinyl.

Retails for $650 new.

Mine sits in the sun 365 days a year and has not done that. If the stain is permanent, yes, it is vinyl. So I presume it could be sprayed black again.

What part of the cover? I have some white marls from the top on mine. I think it is dried in soap from the car wash. One spot I never thought to dry. Here is a link to my Post with pics:

Same. Its obviously from the top resting on the cover when up. Will take pics today, try and clean and see how it goes. Looks like crap when top down.

So I had my car coated by a shop that uses all Fenylab products. I have a bottle of their quick detailer, and I was noticing a similar issue on my car after washing it. A little bit of soapy water would get under the top and create white water spots that wouldn't wipe off. Quick detailer to the rescue... Sprayed on, wiped off with microfiber.

I used Aerospace Protectant 303 at the suggestion of another forum member. Used it with a soft bristle brush. One side is almost back to normal. The other side not much of it came out.

Looks to me like a calcium deposit. Perhaps some kind of a chemical reaction or intolerance between the two materials. Kind of late now, but I would certainly treat those surfaces with a good protectant as mentioned in a previous thread.

If it is hard water, maybe try vinegar. It almost looks bleached.

I am the second owner. The prior owner was rough, the steering wheel was shot, the door arm rest is worn, the door sill plate has small damage, even the center console button has some damage. Typical 3 year lease car with non-caring owner. If top is put down when raining, or i, water gets between top and cover. I suspect that is hard water stains. Will go at it shortly.

Used Vinyl Cleaner and then Vinegar with brush, not much change, Goo Be Gone Spray worked better (https://www.amazon.com/Goo-Gone-Adhe...271247&sr=8-10)

I had a Z4 where the previous owner was a female, her makeup stained the crap out of the steering wheel. It looked white and no leather cleaner was working for me. Someone suggested mr clean magic eraser and it worked fantastically.

Also, clean the rubber on the wing side with some gummi pflege, if its kept clean and supple maybe it won't stain as much

By wing side I assume you are saying the same spot? After cleaning with Goo Gone treat that area with this stuff to keep it from happening again?

No on the top itself, it has a rubber seal that sits on the cover and causes the stain

Tried Goo Gone on white marks - no change. Also, mjposner what color is your car. I ask because the pics above from 10/26 look tan then the pics on 11/1 look black?

Its black. I have a tan canvas carport at my office where I took the first picture which changed the light.

Well white stain is back. Not sure whether to try and respray with vinyl paint or replace.

I wish we could figure out the cause? I thought it was left over soap after car wash but that should be easy to get out.
