E92 M3 vs F12/F13 M6 ?

So I have a Bmw M3 Lime Rock Edition as my daily for the last 6 years and put about 31k miles on her. Fully loaded 6 speed.

But...

The other day I got offered a 2014 M6 Competition Cabriolet Black/Black Loaded for a equal trade. 24k Miles

I like how the M6 has more luxuries and the Cabriolet aspect plus it being a DCT (Auto) for daily A to B stuff.

Would I hate myself "if" I traded ?

I had a C63 P31 2012 (Sandy) Then my 2013 6-Speed Lime Rock M3 2013 = (????)

I don't like the F8X or F10's

I went from a C63 to an F13 M6 and I love it, still has that big V8 feel (but obviously doesn't sound as good)

I'm not sure about a Cab though after having an E92, there is a lot of extra weight in the M6 chassis already and the Cab makes it heavier again. Perhaps see if you can spend some time in it?

I once owned an E93 M3 convertible. I recently purchased a 2016 M6 convertible. If you're not tracking..... the M6 is by far a superior car. The extra weight is not as extreme with the M6 vs the M3 hardtop convertible. The M6 feels way more stable at high speed than my M3 did. I test drove an M4 convertible before looking at M6. I was not impressed with the M4 at all.
Love my M6

That Lime Rock M3 seems to keep appreciating in value, if anything I would keep it for a few more years and put less miles on it. The M6 values will start falling like a rocks when all the 8's make their way out to the streets, IMO.

I came from a E90 M3. I say a F12 is not an upgrade. You should aim for a F06 or a F13 with ZCP, and ideally 6MT and it'll change your life.

I have a 2010 M3 coupe 6-MT and a 2015 M6 coupe DCT and they are very different cars. The M6 is much more luxurious , better for long trips, more planted at high speed and obviously much faster.

The M3, as you know, has a much more engaging driving experience, you feel and hear everything. There are many times I actually enjoy driving the M3 more because of these factors.

Only you can answer if you you think the M6 is better for you. If you like a more raw feel, keep the M3, if you like luxury and power, go with the M6.

What's the difference between a 2014 Competition Pack Car vs a 2016 Competition Edition 1/100 any difference?

Thanks everybody for the feedback!

I am shopping for a M6, 997.2 Turbo, Mercedes GTS, or even the new C8 but waiting for a GrandSport?

A lot of nice cars but I want the service department to be good so yeah that's a big thing for me.

Bmw and Porsche are really good around here Longisland New York area (Service wise).

2011 ZCP E92 M3 vs 2014 F06 M6

Drove a 2011 ZCP E92 M3 for 3 years in Boston and have been driving a 2014 F06 M6 in Taiwan for the past 5 years so I'd like to chime in here. I definitely miss the M3 a lot and overall do enjoy driving it more, but that's not to say that the M6 isn't a great car. I do enjoy the M6 but the two cars are just different. Sports car vs. GT car.

With the M6 it's just a beast around town with the low-end torque and HP. On the highway it's still awesome to drive, especially when you step down and upshift near red-line.

I miss the M3 for 2 main reasons:
1. Sound of the engine and exhaust. Specially I miss downshifting as I come to a stop or corner. The sound is just glorious and the M6 doesn't match the M3 here for me. Before I tuned the M6 (best mod ever BTW if you do get one), I couldn't even rev the engine beyond 4000 when idle and the engine was heated up.

2. Overall feeling of being 'connected' to the car in the sense that I always felt confident that I could safely explore the limits when cornering. Always felt like I knew when the tires were going to lose grip. With the M6 the car loses grip too easily when cornering fast.

Anyways each car is great in its own way. It depends on you and the circumstances. To offer a little more on what I mean by circumstances, I'd like to share that I actually had a M3 in Taiwan before I traded it in for the M6. I did it because I mostly drove from home to work through stop and go traffic, and the M3 just wasn't comfortable when I couldn't rev it up all the time.

Hope this helps.

I had an e9x m3 for 8 years. I had 2 different ones. All types of configurations. Fastest one had 500 hp and 400 torque.

My f12 m6 is a million times better car than e9x m3.

every single thing about it is better besides the exhaust. the m3 exhaust is the best. BUT, it must have an aftermarket exhaust. or else its shitty. so this means getting tickets left and right...no thank you. i had 8 years of non stop tickets for exhausts. im over that.

m6 is way faster, way more premium, way more command presence. way more beautiful. have had ZERO problems with my m6. my m3 was out of commission total of 1.5 years out of the 8 that i owned it, if i had to add it all up. from rod bearings, to throttle actuator, to fuel pump. fuck all that noise.

and to add, m3's must be pretty heavily aesthetically modded to look good on the street. lip, spoiler, diffuser, carbon bits, reflector deletes, chrome deletes, angel eye upgrades. interior looks extremely dated. the best speaker combo is a poor quality sound system. this is coming from a guy who had this platform for almost a decade...

if you have to choose one, and youre not 18-24, get an m6.
