It seems like these 6 series suffer from bent/cracked rims. I really wonder what could be the issue ( Besides runflats , larger wheel sizes of course).

Just subscribed to this 2021 thread. Love seeing everyone's pics/updates. Keep them coming! I did nothing to it today. Just stared at it from the gym parking lot.

I must confess, this was not today, but rather over the last few days....
Got rid of the Dunlop Runflat tires and switched to Michelin Pilot AS3+. It was challenging locating a complete staggered set locally or even nationally through my local tire shop. I ended up going through Tirerack who had them in stock and delivered to my tire shop in 2 days! They even included a list of local tire shops that they are affiliated with and price for install. Worked out way better than I expected. Would recommend to anyone. Only put about 30 miles on them, if that. So far I am very pleased. The expansion joints in the road are way smoother. The ride in general seems a lot more forgiving. I mounted on 373 rims, 245/35-20 and 285/30-20. This setup is a closer rolling diameter for the X-Drive than the factory 245/275 setup and this was an option provided by Tirerack, so I bit. For those of us that care how they look, I think they look fantastic. They have a good looking sidewall. Also installed a VIOFO A139-3 dash camera. Install went super smooth, with some assistance to this forum regarding placement and wire routing. Looks like a professional install. The operation of the camera is also super slick. It has way more features than I was expecting. Excellent quality image, GPS Logger, WIFI, Apple/Google Play App, etc. Looking forward to getting some interesting videos based on my previous experiences. L |

No issues with mounting the rear camera and shade operation. I extended and retracted it a few times to pinpoint the sweet spot where it would not interfere with the camera. L |

I did not tap into the fuse panel (yet). Presently, it is plugged into the accessory outlet under the glovebox. This location works just fine, and at this time I am ok with parking mode operation being very limited. I typically park in my garage or at work which has an armed guard and double security gate. If anything happens in the parking lot at work, I have bigger things to worry about.
The reason that I have not hardwired it yet is that this camera is quite new. The hardwire kit is not yet available on Amazon, though it is available on another site (pre-order), so I may go that route. The fuse box which I will use is the one behind the glovebox. There are several spares available (both mini and normal sizes). The routing of the cable for the accessory outlet versus the Fuse box is nearly identical. Hope this helps. L |

Since the front camera is mounted high up on the windshield, behind the rearview mirror, I routed the wire up, removed the two plastic trim pieces around the rear view mirror, tucked it in there, then in between the windshield and headliner to the driver side, down the pillar where the airbag lives, behind the rubber moulding in the door frame, along the door sill (tucked behind rubber) all the way to the back seat and again up the back door frame and into the headliner, then between the rear window and headliner, to the rear camera. Hope that makes sense. If not, I can try and take some photos and post them. L |

Got mine back from the dealership after getting a tire+wheel replaced. Decided to go for a Dinan tune as well (Carbahn). Brought the car up all the way from 320 to 480, thing genuinely feels like a monster now
this is 480 to the wheels btw, so thats like 550 to the crank if I'm correct? Last edited by dfalt; 04-10-2021 at 11:01 PM.. Reason: math |

just replaced the front struts, strut mounts, and engine mounts.
Now there's no vibration when I switch gear from N to D. But I also feel the ride height is higher with the new bilstein b4 |

So I went ahead and did a hardwired install this weekend as my camera has parking mode which is absolutely necessary for my area.
I know my way around this car fairly well as I have done a lot of my own work on this car and several past cars. I did not want to run wiring the length of the car to the rear panel and wanted easy removal as I don't keep cars long. I used a fuse tap for the always hot wire and plugged it into OBD fuse location in the glove box panel, I used the outlet/cigarette lighter under the glove box for accesory/ignition and used the screw/metal for the fuse holder as a ground. I ran the power wire from the fuse box as other have stated through the pillar, make sure you do it this way as you do not want to risk the wiring restricing the airbag in an accident. For the rear camera, I ran the wiring from the front camera as follows: acroos the top of the windshield tucked under the headliner, under the headliner on the passenger side (pushed up with plastic trim tool) all the way to the rear. If you look and carefully use a trim tool this is the easiest way and is not noticeable what so ever, not to mention it only took about 5 minutes flat. |

So I just applied the second coat of Griots 3 in 1 ceramic. I will say streaking is a concern on black cars, but thanks to you tube and some trial and error, i figured out how to avoid it.
First, plush microfiber towels only! None of the cheap Amazon or autozone types. Second, do not spray directly on the vehicle. Saturate a microfiber towel, wipe on then buff off. Third, small areas only. This stuff flashes quickly, so only do about half a panel at a time and break the hood into fourths. Finally, and possibly most important, change the drying/buffing towel frequently. I did 2 panels with one towel then changed it out. If they are even slightlt damp they will streak. All in all it wasnt much worse than any other spray on wax, just need to change drying towels more often. They say it will get glossier after it cures, so i am excited to see what it looks like tonight/tomorrow. Excuse the wheels, i havent done them yet. |
