Overall design looks promising but I agree the trunk lid going that low looks odd. In a fender bender type impact with say an CUV/SUV, instead of replacing only the rear bumper cover, the trunk will also be damaged? Insurance companies are smart and will factor this in and the cost to insure will likely be higher vs a comparable Tesla Model S or other premium sedans out there.

Lucid Announces Customer Delivery Event for October 30th

Dreams Come True: Lucid Confirms First Customer Deliveries to Take Place on October 30

NEWARK, Calif., Oct. 27, 2021 /PRNewswire/ -- Lucid Group (NASDAQ:LCID), which is setting new standards with its advanced luxury EVs, today announced initial customer deliveries of the Dream Edition launch versions of Lucid Air, which sets new benchmarks in range and efficiency for electric vehicles. The first group of Dream Edition reservation holders are invited to take delivery of their vehicles on Saturday, October 30. Highlights will be shared on Lucid's social media channels throughout the weekend. The Dream Delivery event follows the company's start of production last month at Lucid's factory in Casa Grande, Arizona, the first greenfield, dedicated electric vehicle manufacturing facility in North America.

Initial customer deliveries of the Lucid Air Dream Edition, which sets new benchmarks in range and efficiency for electric vehicles as the first with more than 500 miles of range, will begin on Saturday, October 30, 2021.

Upon receipt of their cars, these initial customers will embark upon the inaugural Lucid Rally, hosted by members of the company's leadership team on a route that showcases the vehicle's standout ride, handling, and performance capabilities, before departing in their personally-configured Lucid Air Dream Edition, reflecting their preference of Range or Performance models.

All Dream Edition models are equipped with a special 118kWh version of Lucid's long-range battery pack, featuring 22 modules totaling 6,600 cylindrical cells with a chemistry engineered to optimize performance and range. The Dream Edition Range achieves an estimated 520 miles on a single charge according to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), making it the longest range for any electric car rated by the organization. It delivers 4.4 miles per kWh, a mark surpassed only by another version of Lucid Air, the Grand Touring, which features a 112kWh battery pack and achieves 4.6 miles per kWh. The Dream Edition Performance model offers 1,111 horsepower, achieving a 0-60 mph time of just 2.42 seconds and a quarter-mile time of 9.67 seconds (with the 21" wheels and tire package) while still capable of an EPA-estimated 471 miles of range (with the 19" wheel and tire package).

"Creating the Lucid Air has truly been a labor of love, with customer deliveries representing the culmination of years of endeavor from the entire Lucid team," said Peter Rawlinson, CEO and CTO, Lucid Group. "So I'm truly excited to hand the keys to our first dear customers and accompany them on an inaugural drive through the iconic California countryside."

Lucid plans to deliver 520 customer-configured Lucid Air Dream Editions, followed by deliveries of Lucid Air Grand Touring versions. Touring and Pure models are anticipated for delivery to customers during 2022.

They'll sell plenty. During my undergrad at the UW I worked at the Tesla Bellevue store. This was around the time the Model S had hit the market. I recall, at that time at least, we had the highest sales of any Tesla center in the nation outside of California.

I really hope Lucid is able to scale production. We've seen so many of these EV companies come and go, and inevitably the issue is they've been run by bean counters instead of product people or they go completely south underestimating the cost of production. The graveyard list of promise is long. Fisker, Faraday Future, Nikola..

The early product looks appealing, but part of me wonders if this can catch up in other areas with Tesla (miles recorded on FSD w/ depth mapping and edge case coverage, supercharging network, Hertz deal, economies of scale). Love the range, but this is just a first step of a longer battle of chewing glass and staring into the abyss.

Stopped by the Tysons store today and took a look. Overall a really nice car, looks good both inside and out in the flesh. They were very adamant on not being a Tesla competitor but rather Mercedes and Porsche. Will be very interested to see how they do.

Apparently its not for production cars, they will get a normal silver/aluminum roof. The car in the store was a pre-production unit.

This car makes the Model S look like a toaster from Walmart. Bravo, Lucid!

Same here. Stoped by the same store. It looks so much nicer than a Model S. I agree, this is a Taycan beater. Can't imagine buying a Model S over the Air. My 2 cents. LOL

Interior, specs and price all seem to be better than the Model S (based on what’s listed on their site), but I dunno what people see in that exterior design. I find it pretty damn ugly. As plain as the Model S looks I think it looks 100x better than this. It has a very old man look to it. That different color roof even makes it look like that fake soft top shit old people would get on their buicks… know what I’m talking about??

The interior is very nice though, definitely better than Model S. Hopefully they will give Tesla some competition. I do wonder how their service/dealer network is though. It’s been 50/50 for me with Tesla service. Only went to service center once and it sucked ass. However the other times they have sent a tech to my house which was super easy and convenient so not sure.

Service and Body Shop work will definitely be in the teething stage. Interestingly Lucid just received permits to open a service center in Tyson's Galleria.
