New guy to the BMW world, but love this thread.

Currently low on whiskey at home, just a bottle of Jura and one of Bushmills.

Seems most of my favorites are touched on often.

Bourbon
Eagle Rare
Four Roses Single Barrel
Bakers
Elijah Craig

Irish
Bushmills if I want something sort of boring

Canadian
Haven't found any that aren't boring

Scotch
Highland Park
Ardberg, the Uigeadial is excellent
Lagavulin
Aberlour Abunadh
Oban

This was the xmas gift basket for my employees in December.
[IMG][/IMG]

I have a 10 day Scotland vacation coming up in May covering Edinburgh, Islay, Oban and a few places between with a 1 series hatch rented.

I do love Aberlour. I have tried the Ardberg 10 and it was way to smokey for me. Does that Uigeadial have a different flavor profile (very different)?

Being an Islay, it's still very smokey. I love the peat, but not all of the time, which is why Highland Park is a great balanced pick for me.

Have you had the Aberlour Abunadh? The alcohol content is 50% higher than most other scotches, so it's quite a nice kick in the face.

Bourbon: Very Old Barton (hands down best value/quality you can find for an every day type of bourbon)

Scotch: The Glenlivet Founders Reserve

Personal favorite for Scotch is The Macallan 18 year

Above all else, THIS is why I spend the extra cash on Abunadh. Wife has no idea that those wee 2 fingers is enough to put me in the mood, for almost anything.

Just no Chiclets . . .

If you like the full-proof, check out the Laphroaig Cast Strength 10yo - also barrel-proof and a wonderful peaty taste.

Man, I don't have that option. Mine loves the abunadh, super peaty scotches, nice Belgian beers and manual cars. I only have my project car to myself because she finds it ugly with mismatched paint and an unpainted bumper.

I'll have to do some more research here to fully understand the chiclet comment.

True. Mixed with some cranberry juice to hide any alcohol flavor.

I see no reason to ever buy anything more expensive than red label Smirnoff.

Hawkeye - I don't think you'll like the Abunadh. Unless you dilute it sufficiently. I won't drink it straight - it is overpowering. It was less peaty as I recall though than the Ardbeg, but frankly, the Ardbeg is quickly becoming one of my favourite scotches - and I think the 10 year is wonderful.

But for the non-peaty ones, I haven't met something from Macallan that I haven't liked, there's also some Irish ones that I've been liking as of late.

For Irish, has anyone tried:
Barr an Uisce Wicklow Rare? It has a fantastic nose. If you can find some, try it out!
Also liking Glendalough 13 year as well.

I'm sipping right now on some "Ararat" cognac from Armenia. It's actually quite nice.

I'm going to try and get this plate, that I was randomly issued for my previous Audi, transferred to the M235 tomorrow. I didn't even notice what it sort of spelled for a few months.

I couldn't pick a better custom plate if I tried.

Update: done.

One of my recent favs. Normally I prefer bourbons but this gin is refreshing and has a great note.

Thistle Finch Distilling is proud to present our Market Alley Gin. The flavor of this new American style gin is created with a mix of traditional botanicals and is accented with citrus and other locally sourced flavors. Distilled in small batches at our historic facility in Lancaster, PA.

Bought this up in Detroit while on business. Can't get it here...thought I'd give it a go.

Probably won't buy another...
