Many of my friends have everything they could ever dream of and buying them stuff feels stupid. I usually knit them something to keep them warm, or take their kids skiing with mine so they can have a day with themselves.

The best gift I have gotten in my life was for my 32nd birthday (which everyone else forgot, again). A friend of mine had gotten a print with the E92 M3 he used to own years ago from BMW. He spend days trying to find the pic and then he sent it to me knowing that was the car I truly wanted instead of the F82 I bought.

It cost him a stamp. Made me deliriously happy.

What about giving or doing something for someone else less fortunate because it is obvious God has blessed both of you. Your reward will be multiplied many folds. Just a thought.

I didn't notice this mentioned but since you said she's probably good from a material standpoint... how about gifting her with an experience rather than something material?

Not sure what she's into or would appreciate but sometimes it's cool to appeal to a hobby/pass-time/interest/experience than a material position. As an example, my fiancee (when she was my girlfriend) surprised me with a trip to the Montreal Grand Prix last year. Was better than any other gift I've probably ever received.

I agree with some of the other posters here. If she has everything she needs from a material perspective, then get her something that only you can provide. Such as cooking her a nice meal, planning a nice evening out, perhaps the theater, something along those lines.

Women love when men put a lot of thought into something. Any jerk can buy a pair of Louboutins. Takes less than 5 minutes.

My wife does not like it when I buy her stuff like a new iPhone, ... She however likes it when instead I spent the money on a weekend (city trip to Rome, Sevilla, ...). This is also due to the fact that we have four kids in the ages between 6 and 12 and we therefore we have barely time for eachother. By spending a weekend without the kids it is a win-win situation for the both of us.
